Headphone recommendations

I love my Sony MDR-7506 - 90€ well spent. I've given my daughter Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro for her piano - slightly more neutral, and more comfortable, though a little less portable and 60€ more expensive... Both good purchases for broke MPC One users like me !

I had the Sony 7506 for year before I upgraded to the Shure SHR1540. Way better for mixing. Mixes translates better on other headphone & speakers. Not too many know about them. 1 of the best things I brought during Covid.

Shure SHR1540 don't seem to be sold anymore. I take your word that they are great, but about €500 is 5.5x the Sony, and about the price of a used MPC One... Well, maybe I don't spend enough time with music headphones - so that would be a large luxury for me.

What I wear pretty much all day are my Voyager Focus 2 Bluetooth headset for conferences, corporate and personal... Bad for music, but well worth their price for comfortable conversations in noisy environments.

Excellent choice for an open back. I mean among the very best for sure. When you consider that there's no need for an amp, they are well made, lightweight, and comfortable, but do have a fairly tight space for the ears.

I'd personally pick the M20X over the M50X. The sound is more neutral and the price is right.

i use AKG K240 and K271 MK2. there are many opinions, if the "neutral" sound is a good thing or not, but i like them a lot.

Ooops, for some reason I thought you wrote R50X--they are a great open back. M20X is a more neutral closed set. Cheaper than the 50 too.

I’m on my third pair of 240s. Can listen all day on them.

Recently got Sennheiser HD490 Pros. Really great sound, excellent for mixing in particular. Sound similar to HD600 but with more detailed bass.
