MPC Live and 2.0 Beta?

I am somewhat confused by the release of the 2.0 beta while the MPC Live has dropped simultaneously. Did the Live consumers actually receive their product with a beta software? If so, how do you feel about this? I imagine you must be vexed, no?

Yeah, I don't have an order placed yet but whole thing looks a mess. I figured the Live/X would ship with legit firmware. Not beta... Isn't that what all the dudes that had beta units were for? Sloppy....

MPC live has a stable release.
It's only the software on computers that is beta.

All of Akai's so called 'stable' releases have been anything but - most would agree that the MPC Software has yet to come out of beta, regardless of version number. MPC Software 1.0 was so bad it was virtually an 'alpha'. The difference between an official 'release' and a 'beta' is simply down to what Akai decide to call it.

I think most people just wanted Akai to release anything now, so the public beta is a good call. Fingers crossed, it seems stable so far. And people are always going to be vexed, no matter what Akai do!

You cats complaining about the software, do you actually have the LIVE and are actually using it?

Ive had it for a couple days now and its been a solid performer for me. No freezes or hiccups or lag.

I dont use the computer software and have only been using the LIVE in standalone mode (which is why i bought it) and i have not had any issues.

Maybe the software on the computer is "a mess", to which i have no opinion on, but ive loaded up 4gbs of data on a old SSD i had lying around and ive been jamming quite nicely thank you on the LIVE....

Sweet. That's good to hear that Live is looking solid. Been reading about people's v2 issues. Confusing trying to figure out which (if any of them) also translate to issues on Live in standalone.

You hit it with any kind of stress test yet? Like a ton of tracks and fx, warping, clips and all 64 voices going? Interested to know how smooth things are with ui/latency/lag when maxed.

I can't believe Akai would do that to their customers. Did they really sell a product with beta software? Yes 2.0 may be working in the standalone unit but regardless of that people paid for the 2.0 software for PC/MAC. That is kind of greasy in my opinion.

Ive had this machine up and running since a bit after 745am pacific. I have it at the job.

Now as i am just turning it off, i have 27% battery. The time here is 1240pm pacific. Not bad.

According to the cpu usage it went up to around 17%. I had several demos loaded but about 1.5 gbs of samples i loaded off the SSD.

I did not do any warping but did use few and the x/y thingy many times. I increased the x/y release time so after you remove your finger form the screen the effect lingers but the beats continues. That was pretty slick to me.

Its not lagged on a gig and a half of stuff with few and realtime nudging of notes on the screen.

Everyone was jumping up and down demanding a product release, so they got it.
I think the "beta" release of the software is just Akai's way of saying we're still finalising the software side of things - and getting the software into lots of people's hands (with different computer specs and plugins etc) is a good way to quickly flesh-out any potential or actual issues and fast-track that development.

Haven't they had close to two years to "flesh out" 2.0? Seems a bit unprofessional to release a product for a considerable amount of money and then ask the customers "what doesn't work?" I can see them asking customers what they'd LIKE to see added, but not expect them to be the test dummies for a so called finished product.

Beta testing should have been done a longtime ago, by as many people as it took to get it right, for paying customers.

Hoping these machines and software are badass because I want the X.

No. Akai says it will though, at a later time. But I think never since 2.0 is touch-screen orientated, will have to "rebuild" the software for those controllers.

They could have just said it was the full release candidate and waited for bug feedback, to be addressed with a subsequent update - which invariably happens with all software (to varying degrees) throughout it's lifespan anyway.

And no, they haven't had two years to address 2.0 with the new MPC's, these MPC's weren't around 2-years ago - Touch wasn't even around 2-years ago. Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't 2.0 taken just over a year, not two-years? A long time, granted, but perhaps the development and production of the new MPC's delayed the 2.0 release last year. Just playing devils advocate here.
