MPC One - no file transfers by USB

MPC One - no file transfers by USB

Not spotted this before, but the MPC One doesn't support file transfers to your computer via USB, you have to physically remove your SD card/usb drive and put it in your computer. I wonder if this was implemented 'just because', or if there's a technical reason? Maybe related to the USB 2.0 port? Didn't seem to stop the 1000/2500 connecting though (and they were USB 1.0).

I'm going to err on the side of "just because".

Have you tired it in controller mode? Because it does not work as well.

So... for real?
the MPC One cant transfer Via USB and is USB 2?
Its hard to believe you cant connect controller mode and take Projects off your Thumb Drive/SD Card...

Also someone mentioned controller mode not working? I'm assuming I got that wrong and it still connects to your computer and can be a controller to the Mpc Software? Not that I use it that way at all.... Just curious.

I got an X and I enjoy it, but I am moving into a different location where I might end up downgrading my gear. I thought of the one but dont like the fair that a hard drive cant be installed, the q link location and is not have anything telling you what they are via hardware, also i didnt like the Data Wheel. Just preference. I would much rather a enter button that push down on a data wheel that will die over time.

I know I'm picky...

Might look into a used Live afterall... Or wait it out.

The user manual also states the MPC One's USB-B port is just used for controller mode, while for the X/Live it also states it can be used for file transfer, so I assume this omission is by design rather than a bug.

And suddenly, the MPC Live seems like a much better deal IMHO. :nod:

Yeah... its looking like it... I do like the Buttons. It was my biggest gripe... But it seems more is coming to light. Pretty weird choice on their part. If someone can test it that would be awesome.
Does it still "Control" the software when needed? but then i do for sure have to take the thumb drive or SD card out, drag and drop from the card (or open inside the thumb drive/sd card), connect the mpc, put in controller mode. and open it up on the computer.

Am i right?

I feel that's the order.

Once again. Not like I am not using the software on the computer. I export ableton and I'm out. so its not the biggest problem, its just honestly nice to do here and there, and its nice to know when investing in something.

it is just an order business choice on their part.

perhaps Inmusic want to actually market this as a true "entry level" machine.

perhaps Inmusic thought if the One had this feature that it would hurt sales of the Live/X? so "dumbing" it down to usb 2 and lack of ableton/bluetooth/wireless/internal ssd would keep it in a level intended to compete with the 707 and similar boxes.

for me, i don't use the one in controller mode because i don't use computers for music. there are SOME people like me out there in the world who couldn't care less about the lack of features on the one. it will sell well for Inmusic.

for me I never liked connecting the live/x up to a computer to transfer files, because of that early bug where if you didn't unmount whilst in controller mode, the internal ssd would not be found and you'd have to reformat it/jump through hoops to get it back. i know that's been resolved more or less now, but im happy just popping the SD card out and into the slot on the computer to move files around/whatever i need to do on the card.

again i may be in the minority on this enthusiasts forum, but this is not the death of the One for me...
