MPC X or MPC One... Which one!?

Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.

MPC X or MPC One... Which one!?

Yes, I realize these are 2 different machines, but what are the biggest and main differences between these 2?
I'm waiting for the X to arrive, but I'm having second thoughts about maybe the ONE will be enough for me.
I need CV/gate, but both have that. I had the LIVE and I thought it was lacking buttons for quick access to functions, but the ONE seems to solve that problem (a bit)... So besides having even more buttons, knobs and a bigger screen... Are there more reasons to choose the X over the ONE? Please let me know so I can make up my mind :)

No bluetooth & wifi, USB 2 not usb 3, only 1 USB port, no option for an internal SATA drive, less audio outs, less MIDI I/O, smaller pads, no turntable input, no mic pre, no direct instrument input, less qlinks, no OLED display for Qlinks, no Ableton Live control, no direct access to drives via computer, no cursor keys for non-touch navigation, no visible meters, no gain and volume knobs for easier access, no dedicated locate/step/bar buttons, no cue mix, no routing of metronome to separate outputs.

Very different in many ways, but if none of that is a deal breaker, get the One and save £1000+ plus free up a lot of desk space and be more portable.

Anyone test if the QWERTY Keyboard arrow keys work with the MPC X?

you can type sample names in with a keyboard, but the arrow keys do not do anything... so you need to either... backspace *cringe* or tap on the screen and hope you get the cursor where you want it.

Honestly I still find it pretty reasonable to type on the keyboard even without arrow keys.

So it seems on the TAB button works to kind of move around the screen. SPOILED by the MPC 4000. :nod:

I think you need to do some work before you buy.

Decide what, for YOU, are the most important aspects of their specifications and compare. Examine as much as you can. THEN, if in doubt or something doesn't make sense, ask about. I think a blanket ask of people, you are going to get as many different viewpoints, and potentially end up with something that is not necessarily for you.

MY personal note (I have an X) would be that where they do differ quite significantly is in size (including screen), ins and outs, knobs and buttons, etc.. Basically it depends on how you want to interface with the thing. Both you, the person, with it and it with other gear.

The software is more or less the same, between the current MPC's, and will likely converge more as time goes by.
