Converting a Song

What are the best ways to convert a song off Spotify for example, into a good quality file I can incorporate into my production

Should I be looking for a MP3 to Wave file converter? Please educate me.

You (presumably) bought a sampler in the form of an MPC (One, Live, or X), correct? Just sample the song you want to use. Run Spotify from your smartphone's headphone out into your MPC and sample away... That's the whole point behind owning a sampler.

That said, Spotify's audio streams are actually encrypted *.ogg format that is a container for *.mp3, not just plain old vanilla *.mp3. Do a Google search for converting Spotify streams to *.wav if you don't want to use your sampler to sample. There's a plethora of services out there.

Strange - in my copy of the 2.9 manual, page 331 is a specs page for the X. Or were you just trying to illustrate that the MPC's have MP3/OGG file system compatibility?

Thanks for all the help. Yes I do have a sampler EnochLight. Im not sure I follow you on "Run Spotify from your smartphone's headphone out into your MPC and sample away" Hopefully you can explain with a little more detail. Im new to a lot of terminology so I can get lost in some of the info. Thanks Brother

The readers digest version is... play audio out of a device that has line out... and connect that output cable to your line in on the MPC. You can then record any audio into your MPC to manipulate that audio further.

Sorry to report that your RTM theory has been officially debunked and therefore you lose 1000 humanity points. In fact if the OP reads the below embedded documents. It/they (No gender discrimination toward the manual that identifies as a guide.) clearly states that since Sections 384 of 2.4. update of the Official MPC Users guide (Users applies to the machine operators not drug addicts.) the user can now load and export FLAC and OGG files with MPC.

Based off of these findings, you must attend 95 hours of mod re-education, 100 hours of drum chopping and sample truncation, and donate 10000 splice coins to OGG to MP3 to WAV conversion projects for those who refuse to read.
