Oops, your MPC recovered from an internal error loop

My MPC says “ Oops, your MPC recovered from an internal error” and then it shuts down, black screen, starts again says the same thing and repeats the process over and over… this happened when I tried to load some new expansions.

Please help me out. Any way to start in some kind o fail safe mode?

youre trying to establish the cause of the problem, if youre using an ssd i take it you mean youve un screwed the back plate and plugged in a hard drive yes ? in which case, remove it and start the mpc to see if that solves your problem

if it does, that means theres an issue with a file on that hard drive, so you then need to establish which file it is, and the only way you can do that is by trial and error. But if youve added files recently, then its probably one of them. So just back them up on a computer, one at a time, and try booting the mpc after removing each one

@OP, have you been saving to and possibly filled up the internal drive (it's an SD card)?
If so, that is BAD. It has a file structure that needs to NOT be messed with.
Always use extra storage, underneath sata or usb.

Thanks you. All the files is on the SSD so not on internal storage. I know that there must be a corrupt file in one of the expansions I added today. So yeah if I remove the SSD the MPC will probably start as normal.

But how do I remove those files from the SSD (I have a lot of important projects on that SSD)? I cant mount the SSD to the computer right? Its probably in some weird format that the Mac cant handle?

Im very thankful for all the help I can get.

put the mpc into controller mode & connect the mpc to computer via usb. then plug the ssd into the mpc, the drive will appear available on the computer and you can move files around like any hard drive

But how can I put the MPC in controller mode? It just keeps looping that error message. Please look at the video I posted on Reddit above. Is there a way to start up from the beginning in controller mode? Any key combo or something I can hold when I restart?

Yes you can. I have a hdd dock, pc is win10, I disconnect from X, connect to pc and it works fine.

If you remove the ssd does the unit start properly??

If yes, put unit in controller mode, then attach the ssd again. The MPC will then work like a hard drive caddy and you can access the files on the computer

Literally
Remove hard drive
Turn on mpc
Connect to computer via usb
Put into controller mode
Reconnect hard drive
back up expansion or recently added files onto computer, delete from hard drive
Exit controller mode

I suggest doing it one file at a time so you can work out which one is corrupt

Thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to write it like this. I will do all the steps above and hopefully that solves the situation. And yes. It starts as it should without the SSD.

I have the " Your mpc recovered from an internal error" and I can't use controller mode to use the SSD I installed , the mpc loops back to "Your Mpc recovered from an internal error" also cannot start a new project when in a loaded project and cannot get to update mode except for the update via Mac . The update doesn't do anything to fix the problem.

Also have tried removing the internal SSD hd I installed and that doesn't fix the problem. Also the internal space isn't full.

Found a reddit thread where someone said the internal micro SD card for the firmware could be changed but I havent got to it yet since I'd like to get the fix through warranty. Anyone had any luck with this? If changing and formatting the internal SD card is proved to fix the problem I'll do it In an instant. Already have Samsung micro SD card ready for it...

Pretty annoyed at the moment... :x

Swapped The Internal micro SD card to no help. Mpc added the Internal folders to the already exfat formatted Samsung 65Gb micro SD card so in that since it was a success. Didn't cure the problem so it sure is a PCB problem.
