i just got my mpcX se and within a few mins of making a beat it restarted due to an internal error and i lost my work.
now when i start it up the splash page comes up and then it keeps restarting every 30 seconds.
any ideas?

Are you able to get it to stay on longer than 30secs? Are you able to access the Menu Screen?

Once it gets free...check to see how full the Internal Drive is? Hopefully you haven't deleted any Pre-Loaded Content from the Internal Drive

it’s about 2/3rds full and i haven’t added or deleted anything.

i feel super worried now that i’ve got a faulty unit.

any other ideas on how to diagnose?

So I just got an mpc live 2 retro last week and I have the same exact problem. I think something is corrupted on the internal sd card, when the machine is working as long as I do stuff with my external SD card it seems fine. But if I load something that triggers an on board expansion pack or the built in programs I have a chance of making it crash. Then it resets for an hour an a half before giving me some "internal drive error". I had it working for a couple hours but then I downloaded studio strings thru the OS instead of putting it on a SD card or thumb drive first and I totally screwed myself again and can't get it to start up.

It's really hard to tell if this is hardware or software. Tho when it does mess up and it logs me back in the internal sd card often gets renamed from "internal" to 'ef905858efe". And the internal drive will only have 1000mb vs 14 gig. And until it renames itself back to "internal" I keep getting errors. That's why I think it could be software? It's having trouble figuring out the internal drive actually is the internal drive.

Every time i tell myself I'm going to return it it starts working again, tho it sucks cuz when it goes into one of these fits it can take over an hour to come back to working.

Hi, Luckily I've never had your restart issues with my relatively new Live II.

If new equipment doesn't work after 1-2 days of investigations and trying to get it working I send it back and demand a refund or replacement. Note the serial # of the faulty one...

Life is too short for wasting it with bad gear.

Mine is working again but I know it will only last so long. I'm thinking about asking for another, if it does with the next one than I know for sure it's a software bug. It's funny I've seen this with a few X SEs now and my live 2 retro is doing it on the first week so I'm really wondering if it is software. Tho I bet if they used decent sd cards for internel storage and not mini Chinese ones then we probably wouldn't get these problems
