Yes I agree, with that statement.
Are you my brother showing those videos that you basically can't OWN CHORDS and sue someone? .
He gets into diatonic, Tonic, Suspended, Major, Minor, Pentatonic, flat, sharp, Phygian etc. the Average person don't know what that means. I know what it means cause I make chords. When the Music is so similar that's what is looked at not the actual chords.
For example if I play a triad and the root is middle C, and someone else does it and someone else does it in a song using different melodies etc, and the song is different no way they can sue for the triad chords. Triad chords are the basic foundation for learning at that. You can Transpose, use Octives, on the keyboard etc. When I give prove I don't like using Youtube as the go to, not in legal procedures. I use attorney links. I have seen tons of songs use the same chords, but the songs sound totally different with different instruments, you will never tell.
But you are right, now you see why I said I will stay away from samples? Even if you win you will spend money to an attorney, and you don't want that. Unless you plan on counter suing the plaintiff and try to get your money back.
