I'm not sure why the concept is so difficult for you to understand.

See, this is just silly. There is absolutely NO reason why the MPC can't be both, and in fact - one could easily make the argument that in 2025 - it should be both. It's not "game over" for Akai. They rightfully recognize that there is a market and user-base for both, which is why we've been able to optionally buy plugins (both effects and instruments) for many years on the MPC now.

Straker wrote:I am afraid this means they don't care anymore about MpC as a sampler.

How is that true? Just because they have made a bunch of optional plugins a side hustle doesn't equate to: doesn't care about MPC as a sampler. Akai (InMusic) are a business, and they must sell stuff to keep that business liquid. Relying on just the MPC as a sampler for old MPC-heads who can't see the forest through the trees is not going to keep them afloat. It also doesn't mean that the core MPC sampler isn't important. But we'll just have to see what MPC 3 ends up bringing to core sampler features as time progresses, won't we? I'm sure 2025 will be full of surprises. :smoker:

Straker wrote:I think I will stay on 2.15 for a long time.

That seems like a logical path for you (and probably many others). No harm in that. And no shame.

Straker wrote:and if it keeps going this way, I will look for some alternative.

You mean if it keeps going the way it has been for almost the past decade??! :hmmm: Lol... you probably should hav started your search a long time ago, friend.

Fixed that for you.

Just notice one thinh: the sampler side of MPC hasn't been changed since the beginning.
Many other aspects have been improved, but sample edit and program edit, for example, are the same.
So it's been put there in 2018 and left as it was in 2018.
We have a good cpu that could open up many modern features, the editing could be deeper, the possibilities are endless but we are still at the starting point.
So that means to me that the idea of Mpc as a sampler is over. No wish to improve it from Akai.
And mind that MPC structure is built around that, around the sampler.
This means to me that, to accommodate DAW like features, romplers, bells and whistles, they will not have any problem in changing it, as it is already happening with MPC3.
So, do I need a daw in a box which is much more limited then any daw I could use in a macbook?
Do I need a preset machine?
Easy answers.
Let me be unpolite, there are still important midi bugs unsolved since day 1, no channel inversion, no phase inversion.
Why not focusing on solving that and keeping the legacy of MPC as a sampler, rather then marketing "the most advanced standalone on the market" putting a totally useless Splice subscribe and now Play rompler from NI?
These are my questions and yes, I am starting to be pissed off by Akai, honestly, as I was with Apple, as I am with this marketing policies that overturn quality into quantity.

Can we have Examples of the Endless Possibilities the Current Sampler is Lacking?

Yet - none of that indicates that Akai have no interest in further developing the MPC's sampler abilities. Again, I'd suggest you wait until MPC 3 actually releases to the public and we see how it evolves over 2025 (as they always issue point updates with fixes and features). Or - don't. Sounds like you've made up your mind already, actually.

How would it be game over? Making a better rompler where you each patch or slot has their own PC/MSB/LSB number would be dope as Hell & would allow for less reliance of external gear.

Didn't just they double the amount of sample layers per pad from 4 to 8 & added some other stuff like random slice or whatever & add Stems?

You also mentioned the how the same program can't be used across multiple tracks, but this isn't completely true. You can set up dummy drum or MIDI tracks & use MIDI Send to trigger the same 1 main drum with samples. You record the MIDI data to the dummy track(s) & use the main track to edit the sample that they trigger.

It not as eloquent as before but it's gets the job done & if you have multiple drum tracks with samples you can use MIDI send to on any dummy track to browse thru programs.

They should bring back the feature from the MPC1k/2500 where we could assign a PC# to a program & record this number into the seq to change to a certain program on that track or switch thru multiple programs via recording different PC#'s on that track.

Sampler features absolutely have changed. I admit they aren’t completely focused on sampling as the main feature of an mpc but to say they haven’t done anything since 2018 is false. We now have stems in standalone for example

It sounds like some just want a new hardware unit to spend money on and it’s obvious that’s not what is going to be announced , so they are upset and lashing out

They will complain today and accept and adapt tomorrow.. this the spoil generation .. then cry when they missed a bug or didn't fix a color on there pad :-D :-D

Which sample features have been improved?
I don't remember any improvement in sample edit and program edit, it is the same as day one.
And no, I don't wanna buy another box, I just want to use my MPC as a sampler without having to accept that some features get deleted as it is with programs on MPC3.
The point is, the more they will add things and change the structure, which is built around the sampler, the more they will sacrifice the sampler until MPC will be a daw in a box and a preset player.
That's the direction.
Possibly the programs/track difference has been removed to accommodate the new arranger.
You see? It's gonna be like that more and more.

I believe you are talkin about the Sequencer. You can Edit your samples extensively in Sample Edit as well as Program(Track) Edit (MPC 3).

What area is the Akai Sampling lacking?

Also removing programs so user can't load multiple kits and forget they have them loaded.. removing programs took me all of 1 day to give on from.. as far as sampling I can I edit faster and more efficient then on 2.0.. and can edit and manipulate faster a better creative curve then using my X & 3000. So yes there have been a ton of improvements to the sampler :-D :-D

Me too...in MPC 3, If I load a Drum Program on Track One, I'll just Scroll My Pads on Additional Tracks Bcz the Samples from the Program are still in Memory...And So On...and so on...

Do you really think Sample edit let you edit your samples extensively?
Have you ever used a sample editor like Adobe Audition?
The one we have on MPC is really basic, it comes from older MPC and has never been improved.
It's really difficult to sync samples with bars on the editor of sample edit, the stretch function is sub standard, it's ok to tune samples and chop works fine.
I never make deep editing on Mpc, it's not good at that, I edit with Audition and then port the edited sample on Mpc ssd.
The Mpc editor features are the same since day 1 and are at the stage of 20 years ago.
Then, if Akai wanted, they could add some modern features, the cpu is good, there are endless possibilities but it seems nobody care about it.

I'm still on 2.x Tried 3.0 but it was too much different than what Im currently doing. Not saying its a bad thing and Im sure ill end up going to 3.x at some point but 2.x works for me well now so didnt feel the desire to change my workflow. (I dont see any benefit to my productivity with 3.0, and I dont want to be a beta tester)

I never had a 4000 and many people say that was the best sampler of the MPC line but I cant imagine going back to my 2000 with everything we have in the current line. Just a weird thing to complain about when its the most complete and powerful standalone sampler/sequencer on the market.
