When selecting a column and turn one qlink rge value in a row change. I made a video if you Re interested.

yes, if you're talking about qlinks being mapped in rows, rather than in columns there are actually two ways to change it but I have to fire up my mpc to double check if it can be done without hacking.
basically qlinks were always saved in separate .json file and one of the options there was to map them vertically or horizontally, Force qlinks are stored in different file called qlinks8x1.json (or thereabouts). I have suspicions that they unintentionally mapped qlinks in "force" fashion (horizontally). Let me double check and get back to you later on :-D

EDIT:
Qlink script for Midi page is located at /usr/share/Akai/SME0/Resources/Pages/Program Edit/Midi/Q-Links.json
so it's not accessible for regular users, I would suggest to report it as a bug/unintended behaviour. It's just literally matter of changing on keyword.

So I have downloaded the MPC-3.4.0.80-update.img on a usb flash drive and got stuck. It has freezed with the MPC logo centred on the screen. I have tried to restart with the on off button and with max volym + erase + cg and nothing happen. So now I have unplugged the power and wait for the battery to run out. Any ideas how to save this situation?

They behave wrong. Maybe I sent the video to akai. Can someone check in a midi programm how the cc qlink control works?

i know what you mean... your physical q-links on the device are vertical, orange q-link border in midi page surround vertical column of parameters, yet q-links are mapped in rows: bottom row first followed by second row the from bottom etc....

So far Akai got rid of time signatures. There is zero guarantee that they will come back, and plenty of evidence that in the industry this can be an issue. Off the top of my head, Novation Circuit, Maschine, and XO come to mind as soft and hardware that only does 4/4 or one time signature at a time. There are plenty more examples of this.

It was always implemented badly in MPC 2, so IMO there's no guarantee it's coming back. 4/4 is king in electronic music, as evidenced by you and others not being worried about it, and dismissing those that are.

strangely, this is how does it looks like in the settings file:
<VALUE name="ProjectDefaults.defaultSequenceLengthBars" val="4"/>
<VALUE name="ProjectDefaults.defaultTimeSignatureNumerator" val="4"/>
<VALUE name="ProjectDefaults.defaultTimeSignatureDenominator" val="2"/>

Don't wan't to investigate it just yet as I'm having a lot on my plate rn, but I'll try to change it at some point and report back :)

Looking forward to that.
I imagine that it's possible to "force" it back to other time signatures (based on the above), but who knows what issues would then arise in, for instance, the arranger window?

Hold the power button for approx 20s - forced shutdown is implemented at hardware level so its independent of software crashes/glitches

absolutely, but a LOT of those same people that are hanging on every Akai announcement dont even read the email or the fine print or the manual, or even read this thread before they start whining and complaining about the same things already addressed. amazing how many couldnt even properly install the beta

Does everyone have to announce that they are abandoning the mpc?
this isnt an airport, you dont have to announce your departure.

citation/ official source that states akai/inmusic have said they are doing away with time signatures mate.
and if they dont bring it back, that makes things easier for you to decide on what machine to use for your projects going forward, right? certainly you have downgraded back to version 2...

Why is it that every forum has this same scenario? Some feature is broken or missing, in this case in a beta, and some are very concerned. Then there's this counter reaction to that concern, clowning like people are overreacting?

How about this? there is a chance that Akai are not abandoning time signature support, but there is just as big of a chance that they will if they don't have to, the nature of software is to ditch code that isn't used. Especially considering it's missing in the beta for a reason! I'm glad to see I'm not alone in being worried that time signature support seems to be completely missing in the beta.

Oh and BTW I did my f*cking research on it before hand, asking those with the beta about it, with no answers coming back. This was always and is a concern about MPCs to me.

Oh and this, if they do permanently remove time signatures from the MPCs then absolutely I want it plastered all over the internet, I've been bit by a lack of information on this very issue in the past, from Maschine to XO etc. Make it an easy google search.
