The MPC 2000XL came in 1998-1999, it has software inside if it and introduced TIME STRETCH in it before FL. Akai had a chance to get that right! Now FL has passed them. So no, Akai had their chance and again dropped the ball!

I Assumed Warping was a form of TimeStretching on the Fly.

Offline Time Stretching is available but its hit or miss for me lol

No the 2000 XL didn't do real time. Akai started doing offline Time Stretching on the S950 if remember. Please correct if I'm off. But the 2000XL time stretch was offline and based on the Akai s3000. If people think the warp sounds bad, use one of those machines. But that was part of the charm, the grit, the dirty.

Akai is still in its Infant Stage with regards to its Real-Time Time Stretch Capabilities.

Actually....JJOSXL paved the road to decent Real-Time Stretch/Pitch Shifting.
I keep my 2500 on deck for that purpose

How does the JJ OS real time stretch sound? Does it stretch while keeping the pitch?

Akai is but what I'm saying is, They shouldn't LOL Hell Akai is infant about everything if you ask me LOL That is the reason I gave up on them.

The way Akai moves is like they came out yesterday, their software sucks!

In the MPC SOFTWARE and standalone warp features works just fine. There are some things Akai Pro needs to fix, but this isn't it. Like @LAMPDOG said above. Correct the loop!

Also just going to add... MPC doesn't exactly function like Ableton, and gets goofy tempo and stuff... even when you just recorded a loop to tempo in the software... just check everything... it can be a hassle, but it will make it sound better in the end.

That's true, no argument from me. My point is, Akai should of been ahead of everyone. That's all I am saying. Two of the sickest time stretches I know is that in FL, and Studio One, ohhhh my gawd, S1 has stepped up their game. I love it, and those who have Ablive I heard their time stretch/Warp is ridiculous also.

I think that's why they push clips so hard. If you really want to work with loops, then a clip program is the best option.

do they really push it that hard?

They have lots of videos, talking about clips. (Sorry Inside Joke) But yeah, using clips in this situation tends to work best.

I dunno, Clips aren't really integrated into Looper... I feel like 99% of the time I record a loop, and export it to a Clip that it detects the tempo incorrectly and then I'm goofing with settings to get the tempo right.

It's probably just me, and I likely need to read the manual again though.
