MPC Live just arrived! Crackling knobs?

Are you sure it's the crackle that classes it as DOA or all the freezes you were getting? I believe the mechanical crackle is there on all units. I just checked my MPC Touch and those Qlinks crackle as well, it's clearly how those dials are made.

I’m confused about what this should sound/feel like.

I rotate the qlinks on the live (I am not near the X at the moment) and they are solid and dont make any sound. Can someone enlighten me on this crackle business?

Yeah definitely DOA from crackles because that's all I reported. The freezes disappeared with FW update.
Can you tell me if you got freezes on the FW that came on your Live? Most notably the XY pad was unusable (like completely unusable). Would freeze the box up totally using it on a simple beat. I might swap my Live just to be safe if others didn't experience that with the early FW's

When the Live is off, push lightly on the Qlinks and they should make a crackling sound. Seems it's normal from reports of users here, though my RMA has been approved to replace mine so not sure??

granted i had to put my ear right next to them to hear...

i just did this on the X and i do hear it. cant see why this would be an issue though?

i wonder if it has something to do with the knobs being capacitance knobs...

Hi guys, i've noticed as well, like some of you guys, any qlink knob i touch, makes those crackling noises as well. It's mostly audible when i use a headphone. The unit is switched off. Nothing plugged in. No usb, no power cord, nothing at all & still i have those weird crackling noises. I sent a mail to Akai, wait & see. These noises are pretty annoying when working with headphones really, the glitches are quite audible, not just some electricity lost somewhere, but some real crackles.

They’ll have to swap it out for you. There were some posts about it to happen to some users, nothing widespread though.

Wow I just checked mines and it does Crackle.....

But The Knobs have to be damn near in my Ear Canal. I wouldn't worry bout it too much. Its probably the Static electricity from our fingertips grounding out, so it can react to the Capacitive Touch Sensitivity.

Turn on your speakers and make music. I promise the crackling will go away. But seriously, it's how the knobs are made.
