We'll to those under 30 right or the uninformed, most of this stuff is new. Music goes in cycles, it's always being recycled, rehashed, and rebranded. I was told before, nothing worst than a bitter, old musicians who can't see the beauty in the music. We all stand on those who came before us, and the ones after us, with stand on us.

If we want to be technical, Hiphop music is Electronic Music, just a Derivative style. No different then techno, noise, house, new wave and so on.

Well of course.Especially the electro styles of the 80s.But during and after that period there was quite a divergence from the 'space' electronic music in hiphop.Running parallel to each other hiphop and house and techno ect.And the mid 80s electronic reggae ie-'slang teng riddims ectect.For instance there's a huge culture difference between BDP/stetsasonic and Juan Atkins/detroit techno.I was into all of it.But the tribes were divided generally.

Many of the DJ and producer of hiphop and Detroit Techno, were the same. They just used different names. I have family in Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles, Mississippi, etc. We use to travel and visit them, we all listened to the same things because of the touring dj's and artist. Also many of the military guys would bring music tapes and that would spread everywhere.

Most of our parents listened to Soul, Funk, Gospel, Blues, R&B which was still the dominate Black Music of 70 & 80"s. However us kids would listen to house, freestyle, Disco Rap (hip hop), and eletro. Mainly because of the dance styles. It was hard to pop and robot to blues music. Plus I was not old enough to go the main street clubs or the underground clubs aka (The gay clubs).

However, later on I was lucky to get involved in music, and talked to many of the DJ's like Frankie Knuckles (RIP) and Kevin Saunderson. Those guys had crates on top of crates.

Todd Terry is a great example of a producer who crossed over from Hiphop to House creating Hiphouse as a result.Also Fast eddie ect.But they never went back to hiphop as far as i know.Altho influencing and influenced by everything as any great real producer is imo.But in London back in those days especially b y the end of the 80s you had you boundaries marked out.Love this track btw.Do you know this one that totally crossed over-

I think it was around that time, 1987 and up the lines started to be drawn. Also I remember all of those. LOL! By 1989 Tony Scott was old style. By then Hip Hop had started to change. We had De La Soul, The D.O.C., Tribe Called Quest, NWA, ICE T, EPMD, Gangstarr. It wasn't about party raps anymore, everything because more militant, street raps, and eclectic styles.
