”Retrospective record” maybe.

I think that's a different thing , it's for constantly recording on the background , but
@bliprock wants to record mute events when on standby recording mode (calling it STOP_RECORD MODE) ,but I don't think it was ever possible to record any event

Terminology threw me off. I wasn't understanding.

Yorgos Arabatzis wrote:I encourage MPC-Tutor or Lampdog to do the same, make a sticky one and update it constantly. Saved my ass many times when people starting asking questions to this and that..

Good idea. I'm probably too lazy for that though.

yeah it works on the 1000 JJOS. And it should work, not actually revert back in front of your eyes when you hit start..that is absolutely infuriating. For you to hit a mute track in on standby mode and it then change back in play record mode is super annoying.
I have the settings just like the pic Lampdog has... RETROSPECTIVE record should be on I feel, yeah totally should be on, but even off it does not matter. Same result.

BUT in count in it does work. YAY So half works, and you have to be super quick so yeah as a work around you have to enter all mutes you want in the count in ONLY. but you cant change the count in can you... it is set to count of 4 beats.. that is the only way it seems, not when in standby mode. Which is kinda ok.. I just have to slow it down if it is way too fast then speed up the tempo again.. There should be a setting to change the count in but obviously not. So yeah it will record on count in but not in stand by mode..
and if you use more than 16 tracks you have to do it more than once, cos no way you can change banks and hit mutes in that count in if you are at any fast BPM. So yeah with work arounds it can work, but still not really great IMHO.
Again, only in Count In, you have to do a pass or two and probably slow it down to get them in. This is 100 times faster than sequence list window and gives you the multiple mutes in the exact place you want them over more than 1 bank of tracks, so you can enter them in any place in time. god damn finally.. hmm not entirely perfect but I can work with this with 2 passes at lower tempo.. no way I can do 2 banks at over 160BPM in a 4 count in.. Im not the Flash or anything.
Thanks everyone.

its kinda a moot point in the fact that it will change if there is automation of mutes. And it adds extra mute automation data at the start if you add say mute automation at bar two for instance. Its a pain and you have to try it with a sequence with no automation. Set it at bar 2 and hey presto it adds data at the start for some reason. I guess for it to have an effect. Cos I just did it at bar 2 but lo and behold data inserted at start and that is without it looping around. Even that is a bit of a gripe. I think its to do with the song mode seeing track mutes and applying them when you convert to sequence. Interesting. Not that I am using song mode but yeah it does use track mute status when you convert multiple sequences in song mode. You know it knows what is muted. But then I think about it and go huh no, I am sure I didn't add them, it just knows that they are there.. I have to check that. IT is weird. At least it picks them up in the count in, which is ok I guess but still a total pain at a high BPM over a couple or more banks. hmmmm. You have to try it wit a sequence with no mute automation and try setting mute automation at say bar 2 or something and not do anything at the start automation wise. It adds it for you, then if you use automation in stand by mode it sees it and reverts on play and that is what my issue is. So does not matter if I am unmuting or muting the status of the mute changes back on play after you change it in stand by mode.. And then you can see why I am loosing my mind over it. It has a mind of its own Lampdog, I am but a pawn in its game.

I can see the brains cells being burned, lol. I honestly haven't had problems as I may be using my X completely different than you/others and not seeing the same issues. I don't know what to tell you man.
Hold onto those brains cells.
