When would we expect the next MPC and which new features ?

Your comments help me a lot. I am currently considering to buy an MPC Live 2 retro but are some afraid that Akai will release a new device maybe at NAMM. Of course even that all what you are saying makes sense it would not be optimal to buy now and see a new device in the next weeks.

What are this bugs Akai is not going to fix. I never heard of it.

I've decided I would never buy a new Akai product. The inconsistent nature of the current line is enough to drive anyone mad, and I believe a company should focus on making one product super solid and something that will last. None of the large companies really do, aside from maybe Elektron, and mayyybe Novation.

I don't know what's he on about but I'm actually loving my live mk1. For all I know they aren't really bothered to send you a new unit if something's wrong with yours.

I've never seen a Manufacturer Produce AND Concentrate on One Product lol. That company wont be around long with that Logic lol

It's strange that MPCs are considered as computers or smartphones. No one cares about CPU in embedded devices like Roland or Elektron.

Embedded devices tend to have embedded processors though... not general purpose components.

As a result of the MPC having an Arm processor, the firmware has been hacked, has been shown that you can run whatever software you are able to compile and run on it, and it opens up a lot of possibilities and potential that you're not going to get on many other instruments. So you can absolutely use an MPC to be a minecraft server, network storage drive, or browser client. These are all things you're not able to do on an Octatrack or SP-404 for example.

All InMusic products use the exact SoC, from Denon DJ players to AKAI MPC, so it's very unlikely AKAI will move to an upgraded version of that SoC anytime soon.

And like it was said before, with all the bugs to fix, and there are hundreds of them, it would be better for AKAI to focus on improving the existing products rather than moving to a new SoC with its own set of quirks which would also hinder updating the hold devices. Nobody wants that here and rightfully so.

That's why the new Numark Mixstream Pro is looking some similar to MPC Live with the display and the build in speaker. In this case I would say the MPC Live is absolutely overpriced and not worth the money at this time.
I also never understood the price difference between Live and One. Are we paying double the price only for the form factor, bigger pads and some additional hardware not worth more than $50 ?

Battery and speakers. thats pretty much all... few more ins and outs iirc.. the mpc one has only 1 set of ins, and 1 set of outs, but to your point its not worth buying an x or a live in reality when you can have the same platform in a classic mpc form for the cheapest of all the units.

If you think the Live is overpriced, check out the MPC X.

Well, 6 outputs instead of 2 make a huge difference. Also battery.
I bought Live for the outputs, and I would even put 8 rather then 6.
That justifies the price in my opinion, which is what it is.
And for a used Live you pay less then a new One, if money is your concern.

That's because you're insane. you can go buy a tascam and have way more outputs via your mpc one and still have saved money! The x is the worst investment of all. The hardware they give you for that extra $1600 isnt worth $1600.

That's true.. You buy an X because you want an X but either way the price is not justified.

Naw man what did you really get for your $2600? a couple more ins and outs and some BUTTONS? "ooo look at my shiney BUTTONS!" lol. what makes me lol is the sense of pride people have that their more costly units are somehow more capable.

i would like car connetion option, so i could maybe mirror screen. or if a car had the mpc software and u just needed to connect a mpc studio to the usb XD
this must be great if you want to get away form your home and get some nice changes in scenery
