Obviously, they don't have a full automated test suite that covered all the functionalities, no matter what they say.

For such a big software project as the MPC , maintenance of a test suite is almost as complicated as the software itself. And the tests become more and more complicated as the software evolves.

IMHO, they should open source the core of the project and benefit from the community contributions. The days where everything was obscurantism and industrial secret are long gone... It's not only Inmusic/Air, seems like the majority of the music software industry is still stuck on the 1990s model.

But even they are, if the build process is so slick how come we have to so long for fixes? Meanwhile we periodically get features no-one asked for. :WTF:

Think you might be being a little dramatic tbh, how many releases have there been in the last 4 months??

I'm sure this will be fixed relatively quickly as well. It's a bit annoying from an expansion preview perspective, but if you're using MP3 in your music production you should probably know better

Sure they are in an industrial model but without having the competencies and methods to manage it. They have to make a choice. They stay in that model but learn the minimum basics (configuration management, exhaustive tests, releases notes...) or you're right, they go in open source model.

They dropped " the most widely used audio format for storing music files on computers or portable devices" in standalone and software :worthy:

Still the Qlinks get frozen and you can't do anything in your MPC screen unless you know the trick to make them disappear "completely".....

Explain this to a new MPC user just 2 hours after he bought it :Sigh:

This is probably just a bug and will be fixed in the later updates BUT there is this little thing that not a lot of people know about. The MP3 spec is governed by it's inventor, Fraunhofer IIS, and software that uses any of those technologies need to pay a fee to be able to licence it's use.

The patent on MP3 encoding/decoding and format has expired in 2017 already. A patent lasts only 20 years. Please don't spread misinformation.

Furthermore, these considerations have absolutely nothing to do with bad engineering practices at AKAI. "it's just a bug" it's supposed to be a device for professional musicians. Imagine if Ableton Live stopped supporting MP3 after an update...

Chill on the negativity. With a codebase as complex as what InMusic is doing with the MPC family, there's going to be builds that have something broken, it's impossible to test everything (it actually is, the feature scale is exponential instead of linear) so possibly audio decoder library got updated and something was incompatible and it fails silently in the background. It's annoying for the end user, but it will most likely be repaired in a hotfix or explained in the release notes of the next update.

Expecting a device I paid 1K for to work as advertised isn't "negativity".

^^ THIS ^^

Pro Tip # 1 right there. I can't believe anyone would ever update their software in the middle of a professional paying job. :hmmm: @KAANG - looks like Tutor saved your day:
