In my experience it's proven faster for me to fix the problems myself then to worry about voiding my warranty while owning a multi thousand dollar item.
if its the keybed on the mpc key i bet it's not as tough to correct as immagined. In theory its likely as easy as: flip it over pull the cover, unscrew the pcb under the keys, look for debris on that pcb with all the contacts, qtip and alcohol it make sure all the rubber boots under the keys are sitting flush, screw the pcb back down, put the cover back on and party like its 1999.
You want to hear what the AKAI distributor told me they did in their attempt to fix the pads? Their own senior tech guy, who was someone repairing cables and PSUs and stuff and was obviously completely clueless when it comes to MPCs said that he resoldered the unit (didn't even say what part).
I don't even know if he actually did that, since the screws looked pristine, and of course he was a lying db anyway because he said to my face that the problem had been fixed. It took me 5 seconds to hit the pads and show him that literally nothing had changed and refuse to receive the unit. Sure that experience isn't directly related to AKAI but didn't help either. I did communicate that to AKAI support as well just so they know. They didn't even comment on it, same as with most things.
I joined these forums and talked about my MPC with enthusiasm. After how things turned out, I probably come across as someone salty who just bashes on AKAI (and now their dealers). Well, this is where we are right now, and with good reason. It has all been detailed and documented, so I don't care how it sounds to someone who didn't have to deal with these issues. More power to you.
I am still thinking about buying a used MPC at some point. That way I will be able to test it before buying, and clean/shim/replace the pads if need be. Or maybe a Maschine+. Maybe even a Force. Maybe some manufacturer will have The Perfect Machine™ out by then. Who knows.
