i get that presets are a starting point but the onse that come as standard are not even in the right ball park; hence the request for prests that are closer to the mark.

That's my point. Even if they made presets in the "right ball park" not everyone is a ball player. You would still have people complaining. So once again, it's not their job to make what "you" like, that's your job. It's their job to provide the synths tools for you to make what you want & if you're not interested in that part, then it's up to you to find/pay someone to make the type of presets that you like. Or find a way to make sound designing more interesting & do it yourself.

Also, let's say they did make the best presets in the world & everybody loved them, you then would have people that would hate that everyone is using the same sounds over & over to the point nobody would want to use them :smh:

I mean, comparing apples to apples - the original Juno 60/106 had mostly shit "presets". Like 90% of them were what most would consider unusable. But it was the remaining 10% - especially those classic pads, strings, and bass, that set it apart. I don't subscribe to the idea that presets aren't meant to be used - they absolutely are if you find yourself inspired by them. But in the very least, they're a great starting point.

Unless you do mind your music lacking originality by using sounds that will be use to death MSX guy won't solve the my point below. But if you don't mind then go for it 8)

You can use them, but the point I was making was that, don't expect most patches to be useful to most users & even if they were, then everyone will use them & then most will get sick of them same sounds. So in the end you're better off getting someone to make patches around your taste or roll up your sleeves & make your own.

I don't mind if most people used the same sounds because it will make original music stand out more easier. So it's a win-win.

using a preset does not define if the music is original; its how u flip the sound in the track.
it dont matter if its a preset or a patch designed by urself that wont define if ur tack is orginal, and typically the sounds u design are similar to other sounds u have heard before so its not that orginal.

also all music takes inspiration from other songs that came before; so no track is truly original; presets is all about helping u cook something up quickly so u can focus on songwriting instead of sound design

How you flip a patch is a part of sound design which you said you're not interested in & that that you want "better presets". If you typically use similar sounds of course it won't be original that's why I said you're gonna have to make your own...nevermind :WTF:

no u dont get im saying someone can take a preset patch without editing it and play a dope melody with it; that what I mean by flip how u play it and how u use it onctect withthe other elements of ur song. :Sigh:

I know that we can use presets that's fit a song. That's how I used my EMU Proteus-2000 back in 2006-2012 when I wasn't that into sound design & more into making dope melodies & layering presets that I only slightly edited, but that's my point about great presets being used over & over until everyone is sick of it. Maybe unless it's a third party preset pack that was made just you, but even then how times can you use the same "unedited sounds" without you & other getting sick of it.

Mind you, my first reply to you was about you complaining about wack presets & you not being interested in sound design, now your talking about flipping presets to make dope melodies so why didn't you apply that mindset to those wack presets that you was hating on? Oh yeah, dope melodies with wack/overused presets isn't that ideal even if the music is original. So like I said in the end you're gonna have to pay for better ones or make your own

I'm done going in circles so do what you think is best. I would rather hear your dope melodies with unedited presets now that you mentioned them or were you just talking in general?

You say that, but then you'd be surprised at just how many synth presets are all over "original" classic and modern music. Just depends on what you do with them.

How would I be surprised if I said there's presets that's been used over & over?
But your now missing my point of my if everyone used the same unedited presets no matter how good they are after a while :vomit: Now it's just harder for that to happen since there's soooooo many options for presets - have fun!

I guess what I'm trying to say is that using presets - yes even over and over - just as long as it's in a creative way and the songs are interesting - well frankly it doesn't make a lick of difference. That said, I've always been a preset tweaker myself, so it's never really even occurred to me that it could ever be a problem.

Anyway, it's all good.

Or, or, if you don’t tweak presets, use them presets over and over until “the masses” think they are played out. People start to think “oh Triton sounds are played out”.

Remember when that was happening.

Didn’t stop me from enjoying my Triton Extreme at all. Presets are starting points imo. Sometimes I’ll tweak ‘em just a little, most times alot. Sometimes even start from scratch.

No rules.
No uppity elitism.
Just fun making music.
And random azz noises (which is really fun, it can snatch your whole afternoon away).

and willing to bet when u hear the msuic of someone who make they own presets; bet u the sounds are not as orginal as they claim and nor is the msuic as orginal as they think it sounds; people like to complicate they process as if that translate to the end product somehow but often times it does not matter to the listener
