Hi there.
As B-Wise suggested, I'm posting here about my search for a kind of workflow that gets around the problem that the overdub function cannot be turned off in loop mode while recording audio.
Because this search process will probably take a little while and so that the post doesn't get too long, I will simply describe the individual steps I take to get where I want to go. Since I'm a beginner myself, I ask those who know the MPC X better than me to correct me if I write nonsense. Thanks
I decided to first follow the method that Wul describes (see above), because it seems to be closest to my own working style.
Wul starts his explanation here: "The way I record audio is to firstly set it to record on the next loop cycle, this can be done on the locator popup." So the first thing I needed were infos about this "locator popup". Since I am visually impaired and reading tires me out quickly, I looked for relevant information this morning on YT and found a suitable tutorial about the "Locate" popup from a nice guy named Tubedigga. Very understandable & apparently with all the stuff you need to know to start with the locator. For now, I'll leave the link to this video here (I still have to work through it myself and check it out on my own MPC). If another newbie stumbles upon this thread, he can already start his own research and doesn't have to wait 'til I understand myself what's going on
