Thanks BW ! Yes I've been all over these forums plus whatever Reddit threads came up with various google search combos for hours last night, trying to find a good version of the OS that works for me for what I need - gonna try 2.11 & see where that leads!
I'm not using any plug in instruments & have no need for them in the box, as I have a DAW for that - basically I just want a modern JJOS style workflow & capability but with the big RAM upgrade & a better choice of effects - the track mutes are something that's important enough for my live gigs that I have no issue dialling back & loosing some bells & whistles that I didn't really need.
I've a gig tonight so I won't be messing with firmware today (we're doing 90's style boom bap at a craft beer festival & everyone's gonna be hammered, so I'm not concerned about the track mutes for this gig lol!) - but I'll give it a go tomorrow.
Thanks everyone for your input - I'll report back!

Thank you! Just downloaded 2.11.4. so I'll see what's up with that tomorrow.
Kinda shit Akai / Inmusic don't have older versions prior to 2.12 available to download, so I had to go on a treasure hunt to find that one.

No problem. This is way it's a good idea to save all the OS. Rock da house!

You can download everything as far back as 2.7 here:

Just make sure you use a version compatible with your specific unit

I'll drop this link here, as I found a reddit post with a zip file full of various 2.10 also - links are still good!

Ah thank you MPC Tutor!!
Visiting their archives I couldn't find anything further back than 2.12!

I ran 2.11 to see if it might fix some key issues for me.. Nope!! Exactly the same as far as I could tell from how I'm rolling with it at least.
Time for 2.8 tomorrow, let's see what's happens!

I'm gradually going further back in time LMAO, I wouldn't be surprised if I end up on some form of version 1 at this point!

Scouring the web for 2.7.2 but so far nothing is coming up Milhouse.
