Does any of the Force users here ever asked for MPC features?

Anway, this propbably means that the Force isn't dead yet.

Did the Force ever get lazy/pad chop? I remember it was missing for a while.

Yes, I want stems, the improved drum program editor, KGXL, & most of the missing plugs. Some wanted Flex Beat, but I think that could be emulated with the Force marcos & that it's more of the MPC way to compensate for lacking those Force marco, but I could be wrong. Oh yeah the new MPC3 main screen & Arranger extra info would be nice on the Force, also having more than 1 Arranger is desirable.

You asked Force users for their opinion & I give you mine.

Sorry, that was only a lame joke on the grunted old timers who (so it seems to me) cannot be pleased whatever Akai does - or does not.

The stuff may not be ground breaking or unheard of as they are claimed to be but I enjoy them. But I am a newbie and have not decade old muscle memory on an MPC.

Sure the bugs are annoying and the release of half-baked versions is questionable, but MPC3 is IMHO not the insult to the users as some describe it.

Cheers

OK cool, some people like being upset. Peace & joy is uncomfortable to miserable people.
I like that Akai are supporting both the MPC & Force after all these years. The chip shortage probably paid a role in this, but I gotta disagree with MPC3 not being an insult. Rushing MPC3 for NAMM or any reason & calling it done is a insult to it's users. Lying to your customers ain't cool, IMO. I like that they made up for it by giving us a road map for what next. I'm very interested on how far they will merge the 2 platforms.

The insult is promoting and selling unfinished stuff, as it was MPC back in 2018, as it is MPC3 which will need months or even years to be stable, and then breaking legacy features when updating to fix unfinished products and firmwares.
But yes, many brands do that.
Because users, eventually, on this age of the world, love to be insulted.

This may be the defining market segmentation. I still consider myself a beginner, but I attest that some of the reflexes I had acquired are perturbed. I can imagine it is most destabilizing to those who have gotten as intimate with their MPC as a violinist can be with their violin: instruments are not supposed to shift like software... But we are now in a software world and the money is in the beginners. I hope the whole thing now stabilizes. I mean after Akai gives my MPC the clip matrix !

I agree with you on this point.

alot of the critique seems to be that it does not have every feature that the MPC4K had 20 years ago

That's one and the 5000 is the only MPC'S I didn't have or ever used so the features that are missing didn't mean much to me I guess :-D

Ah!and bring back clips!

Something else don't use or need but wouldn't be mind they added alone with audio over usb instead of needing and audio interface to connect to then to another audio interface to track out multiple channels..

There are two features from the MPC5000 that would be good to see on the current machines:

1) in the file browser you could select a folder from your disk and hit load all to program > and it would automatically create drum programs, populating all the pads with samples. If the folder had more than 64 samples it would even start making more programs and fill those up too. Was a very quick way to build some random banks of sounds and land on happy accidents

2) they had a type of program where you could record audio while the transport was running, a bit like we do with an audio track on the new MPCs, but the recorded parts would become pad samples, and it would drop a midi note directly into your sequence where the recording started. In effect, making the machine do multitrack audio without using up audio tracks, it meant you were only limited by the machine's polyphony rather than the 8-track limit. These parts also responded to pad mutes and had a chase function built in meaning if you jumped to a later bar in a sequence, it didn't 'forget' that this long sample had been triggered before that bar, like it would if you manually were triggering long samples in a normal program - it would carry on playing the part from where the sample was in that bar (more like a tape machine) It's kinda like the clips function from the Force.

It does seem kind of odd that we have 8 audio tracks, but the MPC's polyphony is way more than that, so really you should be able to have lots of longer parts playing even on the standalone (i.e. say you'd captured an analog synth melody into the machine, it should be able to play back more than just 8 fixed audio tracks of that)

Definitely would like the clips or better yet the Clips-Matrix from the Force, so we can trigger Midi and Audio clips together.

For 8 Audio/Plugin barrier, probably going to have to hackintosh it.
