At the same time, akai also announced a new partnership with Spitfire Audio. Sound banks are finally going to evolve. All that's missing now is for IN Music to announce the acquisition of Native Instruments, and we'll finally have real instrument plugins and real insert effects.

From my perspective, any kind of add-on player that gives third parties the opportunity to create a Kontakt-like instrument with a custom UI on the MPC would be very welcome.

Opening the MPC platform to free software developers is an interesting dilemma for Akai, between boosting the value of their offering at no cost, and cannibalisation of their plugin sales. Same for letting third-party commercial offerings outside of the MPC authorization framework. Business model dilemma between cheap hardware to sell software and expensive hardware boosted by a huge third party software offering.

i wonder at what point NI thinks its good to communicate.
the radio silence is much worse than the people freaking out imo...

i would bet that inmusic will never acquire NI or Maschine or whatever platform.
dont make sense to own two groovebox platforms.

but i could see them hire some people from the NI sound design team for AIR music. both companys have/had their headquarters in germany.

Not versed on German company law myself, but apparently they are limited in this respect as currently the administrators control what is publicly communicated, so it's likely out of their hands for the moment. Sounds like 'preliminary insolvency' in Germany is a fairly normal first step procedure for obtaining outside help when you've got your company in a bit of a pickle, so nowhere near dramatic as the headlines claim.

Yeah, more sample instruments. Wasn't it the downfall of NI that they only sold sample instruments?

Would be more interested if inMusic would allow generally 3rd party synths and FX.

Inmusic strike me as very shrude; I could see them purchasing NI's sound library and play series.
Since the trend of NI expansions and instruments on MPC is already in Swing, it would make sense to buy that IP outright.

As far as who could buy the mashine product line maybe ableton would be a good fit.
Think they worked had worked together before (push related) they would know how to devlop the software, and can add their push hardware touch to the maschine.
