i would even go so far and say, if they hadnt threw in the towel 10 years ago, they would be dominating right now.

Idk, I think the XL is probably the best drum machine on the market, however I think the tr1000 has the best marketing behind it, it having the whole analog side to it has swayed a lot of people over to Roland. I honestly don’t think it sounds any better myself. It is a sexy machine though.. I’m not into the whole sixteen step dance music paradigm though but a lot of people have crapped on the new mpc’s because of the Roland.

I feel the same way. I got there TR8S & I'm good with it but I'm not using it to make beats on it with that wack ass sequencer. I let the Force sequence it. I don't mind waiting for the TR1000 to come in price before upgrading as it is better than the TR8S. The funny thing is the people that love it for being analog music isn't that interesting but it sounds nice sonically. I know I ain't the only one that feels that way.

I dont think they threw in the towel, they actually did too much, they should not of allowed Akai to lure them into making a standalone unit.

If they stuck to what they were best at which was software, and developed that as per user instruction things would of not become so dire for them.

The higher ups took advantage of it user base and released controllers with half of its capabilities. Nothing gets addressed and they dont listen to there customers.. all facts!

Some things hasn't been fixed but at least they working on it. Akai does listen to their base better than most companies in their field. The Sample may be overhyped online via the promotion but love is real - still not my things but for those it was made for they're loving it a free lap dance

Im sure there something needed fixing coming hopefully.. MPC Sample yeah hugh buzz anyone and everyone is posting. I dont see it slowing down at all once sold out there will be a long list wanting it.. then when they cant buy one they will purchase the new MPC one when released since it a few hundred more..

Now that the Sample has a battery, there's no excuse to not put one in the g2 One. The thing I'm interested in is how it'll be designed. Like will it have only 8 step seq buttons with w the Shift button giving quick access to the other 8 & will it have the touchstrip? Both g2 MPCs are bigger so it safe to expect the same for the One.

The Sample will most definitely make some users want a step in function & portability but the L2 will big too much for many, making a battery powered One the sweet spot. 2026 will be very interesting for Akai.

If im akai i wait until the fall collect all the $ release some instrument plugins good ones tho and effects then release G2 MPC One end the year on a high..

That sounds like the plan, but I hope they fix more bugs & make more QoL improvements in between that. Many people had problems with 3.7.1 on the MPC. The Force version was so bad they remove like it never existed They may wait until NAMM of 2027 to drop the One or do it like you said & drop one or both keys at NAMM. So far they dropped 3 MPCs within a year. I guess all them plugin sales were worth it

I'm sure Akai has done the market research to know how to scoop up the most effective bits of the market. There had to have been a discussion of "how many people will buy a Live 3 then an XL" vs "XL then Live 3"... the Sample coming out opens up the interesting conversation for them of how much more can they charge for an updated MPC One in this space. The Sample at $399 probably pushes the MPC One right around the $1000 price tag.
