I wonder if the black studio is facing discontinuation. The drivers haven’t been updated for MacOS ( still works with the hack workaround) and it’s been on back order from most sites for a while.

Would be a nice to see a MK3 studio with audio interface and color screen but still bus powered in that slim form factor.

It feels like this what the MPC ONE is.

I was just about to say that.
Interface and touch screen won’t be in such a slim form. It will have to be the One.

Guess you haven't tried grid edit on the live.

My thoughts also^ (& yes I know this is comparing apples to slightly different apples) but:
Look at the ipad and the OP-Z. Both are very small considering the power they can push.
Whats the reason Akai doesnt make a smaller, powerful & even more portable MPC??? Are they just using up their parts backstock? Do they lack the technological capability? I dont need a 20lb box on my desk.
I want a small MPC, 9" screen, small pads, 8 qlinks BOOM
I dont want no 20lb box or a new speaker!
End rant

Part of the problem is you need an enclosure that is large enough to not only accommodate the pads and physical buttons and Q-links that everyone wants, but also proper analog quarter-inch TRS jacks both in and out, full-size MIDI ports, and everything else such as phono and CV. Take a look at the rear panel of the MPC One and current Live; I'm not sure how they could make it any thinner yet provide that sort of in/out. An iPad or OP-Z isn't even in the same league by comparison.

Yeah I get it, let me dream! :)
Really though... You can make full songs/albums of high quality audio on iPad so id say its in the same league, the machines are just... different. Opz is lower quality audio so its out.

59 Preset is being a little greedy. Why not just 58 with 58 dbs?

I only bring up a MPC Studio MK3 because I’ve been carrying a silver studio and Microsoft surface pro to work for the last two weeks.

I alternate with an MPC Live every other day to see which is easier to carry and use on break at work. The Live is a little to wide for my workplace use, that’s my only issue with it .

I was thinking of getting the black studio just for the better qlinks. I’m not going to lie the surface pro Mpc studio combo is pretty nice. Too bad there is no audio interface so no sampling on the fly, if you add one it just get messy with another box.

What kind of sources are you sampling?

You could put all your music on 128 G micro sd card and then insert it into the Surface Pro.

or

Surface Pro Dock for Surface Pro (Mounts on the side and gives more usb inputs)
https://www.amazon.com/Eletrand-Surface ... B07486NHBW

and

Sabrent USB External Stereo Sound Adapter for Windows and Mac.
https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Aluminum ... B00OJ5AV8I

The only issue is the input is Mono, search around you may find one that is stereo.
