I'm not sure how anyone is keeping their preorder in at this point. How did they go from "on the boats as we speak" to pushed back again? I know the shop dates are speculation, but GC has the Live at the end of April now and i'll bet that changes to early May by next week if there isn't some major positive news. It'd be nice if an anonymous beta tester would just come out and say wtf the holdup actually is. Is is the software? Is it the hardware? Is it both? I've seen enough of Pete's smug bs. Guy has really rubbed me the wrong way with the way he answers questions like we're all idiots and he's the master of code. I know dudes working as software engineers in NYC likely making double or triple what he makes from inMusic that probably would've been able to do what's taken Akai a year and a half in about 3 months. I actually talked to one of them about this debacle and they said the same... "sounds like they just have a bad team; ie, not enough people or not enough competent people." There is not a single groundbreaking feature on these machines that should lead to such a sh*tshow. Akai had job openings for engineers specializing in "embedded software" for a reason... just so happens getting quality engineers doesn't come cheap. None of the guys with talent and postgrad degrees from top tier schools is working for less than 6 figures.

Ima look at this from an Akai point of view. So lLL wait llke l said but I NEED 16 PADS. My position is different than others. If it wasn't for Reason l probably would of drowned. The need for a standalone is very much needed in my case. That's why l chose the Live. If l can rock using that small lpd8 l can imagine the Live in my hands.

Akai tested the waters to see if the machines would catch on and it did. Akai got overwhelmed. But they need to say something instead of showing Andy and sparse visions from Pete Goodliffe.

I wished they never did the hybrid thing and would of did just straight standalone. Probably wood be shipping by now.

I know you use Reason & Studio One too? I also use the Studio One DAW. I have an MPK249 completely mapped to Studio One- 16 pads and all buttons, knobs, faders, etc. I did this to hold me over until Akai releases the MPC Live. I plan on using the MPC Live standalone and doing all my mixing/mastering in Studio One. This may help until Akai releases both devices.

Just wait until April 5th, someone will announce something groundbreaking and will make you wonder why the **** we need Akai.

Thats what these MPCs are, the last Coke in the desert. But if Pepsi and Snapple start putting vending machines in the desert, you'll say **** that Coke.

Yeah yeah, we know about what Jack said, personally I can't see an April release if the X is still being engineered, 2.0 not ready and the Live is on hold because of that.

I see a September release, but by then, most have moved on and spent their hard earned cash on something better.

Meaning April or June?

No i'm talking producer wise. Friend of mines (DJ Premier-Gangstarr) was laughing at some of these post on the forums I showed him. He said he's been using the Akai MPC60II since he learned how to use a EMU SP12. He has a Grammy award and all kinds of classic HIP HOP tracks he produced, all with an MPC60II. He basically was saying STOP CRYING ABOUT FEATURES and make music. straight from the horses mouth...... :worthy: :smoker:

So what was the actual news you heard?

And for what you said…probably no-one here thinks they're going to make *better* music with new devices. But new stuff every now and then can be fun.
E.g., I'm just about to order a new bike. I've been riding my shitty army bike since 2010, and now, I think it's time for something new just because it keeps things fresh. I mean…I could still ride that shitty thing and the end result would be the same of course.

It is well known that Primo uses those devices. He stated that when the Ren came out. He is used to those devices and made his hits with those devices, so why change?

But Marley Marl managed to remake some of his hits on the Ren.
