Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.

People with the MPC X still complaining   .
People with FOMO
People say the sounds are shit
Akai is laughing on their way to the bank.
I believe Akai had the right idea. I’m happy because this advances the MPC line and extends its life even more.

@ KJA

It's not very close to Velvet, sorry.
It's the best we can get on Mpc, as I said before.
As for autosampling Roland, you can autosample layers, isn't it?
That's dynamic.
As for the price of new plugins:
I don't know about PROs you talk about.
Maybe for them 500$ is like 5$ for me.
So maybe PROs will buy them now, poor people like me will wait for a big discount.
To each its own.
I think I will get Stage piano if it gets to 50$.
Not sure about EP.
Strimgs and organ no way.
FM might be.

Yeah but if you think about it, it not so nice that you pay 2k for an X which has half Ram of key61 which costs 1.8k and then you have to pay 500$ to get the plugins that are free on key61.
This new key61 changed the marketing balance of Akai.
Now X sellings will fall down.
So they need to upgrade it to the same key61 standard or it will soon get discontinued.
I would be quite nervous if I had an X.
But I have a second hand Live mk1 so I am fine.
And I am quite sure all Mpc line will change this year.

Apple does that every year
Android phones same
Intel releases a new updated CPU almost every year
So does AMD
Pretty much any commercial product go thru this so I don’t understand your logic about the MPC X which was released back in 2017.

How often do you update your phone?

Few days in now. Opx4 just kills it. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the more egg-head inclined of us might really dig this one. I was initially put off by the 4 operator structure, but they do themselves a disservice even mentioning that. It goes pretty far beyond that anyways because of the matrix. It's definitely the most comprehensive, all-in-one plugin akai has put out. I love that you can have a sampled layer (please let us use our own sample in this???), which can then be routed to it's own FX bus....within the plugin! The specs are pretty insane when you dive in

Some notable ones
- All 6 envelopes can be one-shot or looped and synced to tempo??!? Quick scaling param too, wow. Set your scale into the step sequencer and mod that out while playing notes, to drastically alter the feel of the sound without screwing with a ton of things. Prepare for some wild shit here
- Dual filters that can be assigned, have overdrive, and you can then use the extra envelopes to control them, like traditional synths
- 2 LFOs with all the good stuff
- 8 macros to route to whatever you want
- 2 ramp generators?! Haven't seen that stuff in many things. Oberheim did those alot in the old synths
- Sample layer that can be tuned, looped, has it's own dedicated decay envelope, and routing to buses. Nearly 100 samples to use
- 32 freaking matrix modulation slots? A list of matrix destinations to (I think) every single adjustable parameter in the plugin. holy hell. Also love the visible feedback of LFOs on that screen.

My point is, the OPx4 is way better than anyone could expect. Hate that boring ass grey tho! Appears that it's 7 note polyphony (that's the highest the setting goes in the main screen at least).

@ handjobs :)

My logic is that a new X will come out soon with 4gb and all plugins.
It's been made in 2017 as you said.
So after 5 years is just normal that it's gonna be upgraded and that's the reason why they didn't give new plugins for free.
Now it's time for the key61 hype.
When it will come down, it will be time for new X.
I wonder if they will upgrade also Live and One and when, just that.

Ps I have the same phone since 4 years. A cheap android. Not gonna pay money for that shit.

Yep I am giving it a try now.
It's very good.
Next black friday purchase.

Please don’t compare musical equipment to a mobile phone lol.

We're talking about musical instruments here... How often did BB King replace his guitar?

Also, phones should last more. The planet cannot sustain all of us replacing all electronics every 2 years.

I remember watching someone on Youtube messing with the UI of the old plugins.

Maybe it's possible to do the same to this new batch.

EDIT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdbcuhL ... bhABGAE%3D

Either way, focusing on the topic, i'm less salty with AKAI. I don't necessarily agree with the "you bought if for what it was" argument but it is what it is.

If they get cheap enough I'll probably buy the FM Synth.

Yes, should be. But not on the MPC Key, as apparently the 'Synths' folder is pre-installed on the internal factory drive (inaccessbile).

agree 100%. this is VERY good. as soon as it gets discounted imma buy it. circular fm, free fm matrix, great envelopes, great comprehensive modulation matrix. this is better than ableton Operator 100%. not as full fledged as FM8 but same ballpark.

Not to digress, but I'd wager with fair certainty that "X selling" has been down since the MPC One appeared - it's likely Akai's best selling MPC to date next to the Live/Live II. No amount of included free plugins on the Key 61 will change that.

Yeah.
So it's time for a new XL.
I think Live is the best compromise.
I would make a Live XL, small enough and portable but with 8 outs.
Let's see what it will happen.
