Ren vs X

Now that's the type of comparison/review vids that I like to see! NO Akai marketing hype... just a honest comparison done by an honest tester/user. Good stuff!!

LOL true, man I am so glad I didn't go with that Ren. I really didn't like it, I'd rather rock a 2000xl.

The X looks like it has the 4000 look, 5000 look. I see the QLink knobs multiplied with each model now the X has 16!

Makes me a bit sad.

On the other hand, those of us who are interested in the X will have a good idea of its capabilities/workflow by the time it gets released, since YouTube will hopefully be flooded with user vids.

When that time comes, the only thing we won't have a clue about will be the quality of the internals/casing/buttons/converters.

Can't wait to find out.

Wasn't that the intent .

I don't think "vintage mode" would compensate for the Ren's look but if that was the intent, its pretty dated.

I remember being interested in the FLY at the time. I told Akai, that should've been a standalone touchscreen MPC. That looked ahead of its time. Not saying I was the only one suggesting it, because here we are; definitely there was demand. But the FLY was something I wished for, too bad it got canned before seeing light just can't make controllers for the ever changing iPad. I think Akai began seeing what we were seeing and came up with two titans.

Hi!

Signed up just to ask this:

Any guesses – would I be able to sequence the MPC Live from an external sequencer? Use notes to trigger different samples, CC to affect pitch/cutoff/etc... I know this hasn't probably been the case with the Studio, or has it?

It´s going to be a pile of junk, that´s for sure. Nukai have always used the cheapest components...and since Jack is a greedy bastard that won´t change anytime soon!

Well if they are anything like the 2500/1000 I'll stay the **** away from them. Hoping for some quality components though.

Why would you do this, exactly, considering Live itself is a sequencer, and there's probably cheaper options for that?

Fair question – I thought this'd come up :)

I have a killer sequencer I'm used to that does stuff like probability, easy flams etc., so it'd be a nice option to have, being able to sequence the Live from that. At the very least, I'd hope the Live responds to program changes in some sensible way... :| Live's sequencer would probably see much action, but for my specific case external sequencing would be very nice to have.
