The whole 'dub techno chord' is really just a couple of saw VCOs (one an octave higher), with the filter closed, and a really short envelope like you might see on a kick drum modulating the cutoff. Basically the filter opens enough to go 'donk' and then closes again so you just get these short stabbing sounds. Use a m7 of some sort, instant techno heh. The rev2 has a cool unison chord mode so you can do it with one finger. Some synths just do it 'better' I suppose. Made some cool ones with Repro, but couldn't quite get it right with Hive for example, and my Rev2 can do it, but the filter and oscillators just sound 'off' compared to the OG P5 or even a Juno doing it.

No actually the technique belongs to Mark and Moritz, who came up with it back in 1993..

I‘m glad to see there seem to be more“electronic people“ on this board than expected.

The one thing i‘m missing from M+ is the diversity in their expansions. I like using them as a starting point but it‘s SO boring that akai only releases one hip hop/trap/R&B thing after another…

I meant that the concept - or genre - has widened during the past decades, and now when you search for things labeled "dub techno" or "dub chords", you'll find a wide variety of stuff, created using diverse techniques and with different results too. Like pizza or paealla - you can put many kinds of ingredients in your chords. Weird oscillators, distortion, noise, different mixes of low-pass and band-pass filters, and even vocoders. Apparently, some people haven't even heard of Basic Channel. Genres evolve.

like most of the other plugins (Mini-D excepted), still find the low-end on Jura lacking, at least playing around with it a bit to see if i could program the Mr. Fingers bass. can get the sound pretty spot on which is cool but when i do an A/B comparison to a similar patch on my Alpha Juno, even cranking Jura's volume up to 100% it's not really a fair fight. maybe Akai just intends the plugins to sit well in any mix done fully in the box but would be nice if their dynamic range could also hold its own against other hardware synths

Well the MPC can have a many more FX's added to the chain than any of the hardware OG units that it should make up for it, plus you can stack 8 Jura together, so you should be able to get more bass if you really need to some how.

Wouldn't it be great if you could chain a bus into another bus?

On the Force as well! Maybe the coders are afraid of feedback loops or something, and slept on algorithms and data structures lectures.

The low end is ok. I'm not noticing the extra thump having HPF on 0 setting, which is what the originals did. Essentially is a bass boost. But in some cases can get it to sound quite nice and full, particularly with using the EQ. My only complaint is that I wish the filter env was on the same panel as the filter cutoff/resonance as it makes more sense for using the q-links. I don't see why they bothered with the saturation and drive parameters, complete waste given neither do anything.
