Waiting for my Live at the moment. I'm ready: got all my Rihanna vocals ready, do some freakin' timestretching, make hundreds of wave like velocity curves on the super responsive touchscreen, and literally put a filter-beatrepeat on every bar! I mean literally.

Some questions which maybe an MPC touch user could answer (not sure it will be the same in the Live, but probably):
1) Can you use pad copy to copy pads (with their layers, effects etc) to another program or just to another midi note within the banks in a program. I used to do that a lot on the MV. Couldn't find it in the MPC Touch manual. Only copy pad within a program.

2)Also: is there something like pad swap? Not really important, but would be handy.

3) I'm making some drumkits. When you load, say 32 samples at once in a program. Are they then laid out from pad 1 to 2 etc in the same order as which the samples are ordered in the sample file folder? If you get what I mean. I'm making file maps already in the order of pad 1 to 32, so when I load in the MPC I want the kicks and snares etc on the pads that I want to finger drum them.

How you liking those effects? They sound dope, I think Akai got it right this time. That flanger sounded dope! They got mad effects too! That's dope, Hell I might end up with a Live and X LOL I ain't even playing either, get the Live first and then later get the X.

Well It's difficult to judge the effects from these youtube reviews. And I think you won't go wrong easily with flangers or delays. It's probably the compression, eq, distortion which are harder to get right digitally in a standalone. I wouldn't count on those. But I'm not an expert on effects.
I do think they got it right. SOS also has a rave review, not really much on the software, but I want to go standalone and use my mac just as a sound module with VST instruments, and use my hardware effects. NO mousing anymore.

Im not looking for compression or Eqs in this, reverbs, flangers, delays, chorus things like that, I don't see it being wack. Akai knows they have to impress the EDM live world, they are not going to play around with it.

I wonder if they're going to put more audio tracks in standalone. One of the beta testers repeatedly said in a Q &A session ' there are 8 audio tracks, but DON'T worry about that' as if they adding more, but he couldn't speak about that. But in the reviews Andy Mac says nothing like 'working on it' .
'You could bring in a singer, lay some vocals, get a guitarist etc' But with only 8 audio tracks you're done pretty quickly, if you want to keep recording and mixing in standalone mode. Eight probably will be enough for me, but 16 mono tracks would be much better.

But i have also been on the phone with my retailer which has an April 8th delivery date - and they seem to think there's been no change.

My retailer has changed their dates a few times. They recently changed it from May to June for the X.

Last I heard it was 8 stereo audio tracks in standalone mode; no mono tracks in standalone mode. I don't know if that has changed.

Well I'd guess you can always pan stuff, making it mono that way (i.e., assing a sound to stereo pair 3-4, then pan it left to make it mono coming out of output 3).

Yeah, I know: 8 stereo audio tracks for now. What I noticed is that on the Akai site they don't mention the audio tracks in standalone (nor the 128 midi/sample trigger tracks). Strange because that's a strong selling point feature. So maybe the 8 is not definite. For laying down ideas using external instruments people would probably like more than 8 audio tracks. But thinking about it now, I think it will be enough for me. My drums will al be triggered samples in programs, and then audio tracks for eight other recorded instruments is enough. And maybe I'll use the looper to record external instruments. Which u can assign to a program and trigger it in your sequence, so no need for an audio track.
