I love the blue redesign. Headphones included too! Just changed my mind on preorder. I wanna do those 5 styles and this should launch me into overdrive to get that coveted producer of the year award.

Does it come with an Andy Mac lifesize cardboard cutout? Cuz that would be the junkie icing on the dope beatz cake for me. I could bounce my musical ideas off him while he oversees my tarnce creations.

Yeah, the fact that they would have killed for it is what's going on 'now'.

New workflows, shifts in limitations can do wonders for the final product, whether its better quality because you can get more volume of music out and pick from a better stack, or never losing an idea because you are figuring out how to do something, or new inspiration from new tools. Switching from Reason to Ableton was super jarring for me, but it opened up SO MUCH for SIMPLE reasons like controllers (Push)...which lead to me being able to work with various VSTs/instruments quicker, allowing me to go deeper quicker, allowing me to get a finished product in shorter time, with fewer missed ideas.

Also, I'm frustrated because this is messing up my volume of production. It's not really "Akai's" fault, its the situation, my laptop literally can't keep up with Ableton 9.7, let alone my VSTs (Komplete mostly), so I was looking for a new laptop so I can work during lunch, one hour to make music can easily be anywhere from a full song to 10 ideas gotten down. Then the leak happens, so I hold off. I'm still holding off and have been in a "lunch production black out" waiting for this to release. It's been like 6 months of nothing coming out of work (I study instead). I almost caved and went back to a laptop, but the Live will aid with my setup at home for live performances (need the looping for running parallel to Ableton). so I'm stuck.

But back ot my original point, it CAN help you make better music. It would be wrong to assume there is no value in using what you have, but I know what the MPC workflow does for my production, its a completely different style than what I do on Reason and what I do on Ableton.

Agree 100%. There are plenty of other companies who value their customers and treat them with respect. Unfortunately, Akai(inMusic Brand) is NOT that type of company. I wish Akai, RANE and Denon had been bought by a better company.

Akai means red in japanese. The color many are seeing for the holdup.

on the contary the new MPC will make me make better music both directly and indirectly.

in direct cos the new touch interface and enthusiasm for the new unit will trigger new workflows and encourage me to work on beats more because the production process will be more enjoyable, certain features will be more accessible with the the new interface so it will inspire to dig around more and try different features that I was not bothered with using this 1980's blue screen.

and directly because of the new features will again open up new features to enable creativity, and the convenience of being able to record audio tracks will enable me to quickly add external synths and manipulate that into my tracks where previously it was a bit long winded to do.

I get paid with publishing and placements, can't mess around not doing music unless I am on down time practicing my piano skills or on here to chat with the fellas. But I really, really really really love doing music. I love taking an idea that was in my head and putting it down. A few times I have dreamt music and it sounds so beautiful in the dreams, and I wake up immediately to put it down and some times I try to remember how it went in the dream. So basically I eat, sleep (for real), read, and think music. Music just pours in my head, and I have to immediately put it down, and my writing skills have picked up, cause I really didn't want to every write lyrics, but being with top industry singers that I work with I go as far as writing the hooks, and on a split sheet contract that really counts, along with writing the music.
No Joke at one time a few years back music kept pouring in my head, felt like I was going crazy, and I was trying to turn it off, and I thought "Ummmm this is what you asked for so stfu and take it all in". LOL Yep I told myself to STFU, and I learned how to relax and take the music I want from my head. That's why I never understood when dudes say they get beat block.
Being on a strike is not an option for me though.

I love limitations that's why I scaled down my project studio. Only thing I am not limited to is sounds "good grief" lol Only problem I have is "What sound do I chose" LOL I be scratching my head like WTF lol The MPC Live will let me invent new exciting drums and melodies, where I won't be afraid to down crazy patterns cause I know I don't have to edit them. The feel of the pads, and the things it can do is going to change the way I do music, and I already know it, been studying that thing. But its a good thing.

New gear in general can be inspirational to make music. Not specific to new MPC's.

When I bought my mv8800 many reviews said too complex. Too deep. Not an easy workflow. I described it as inspiring and brilliant to my friends.

My Spectralis 2. Inspiring. Brilliant. On a level with the mv8800 for deep and complex. You should read reviews on that one. Many of the same descriptions and people sold them off because they found it unintuitive. I find it outstanding, genius, inspiring.

I am inspired to create on any new piece of gear. Some more than others. It's not really gear specific or workflow specific. I can adapt to workflows. If I see someone else mastering it and creating great tracks with it and I'm still struggling with it, then I need to dig in deeper with it. Means I haven't put in enough time learning it.

Sometimes I just go through stagnant idea periods or lack of motivation periods, but I think thats pretty normal. If a new piece of gear kicks me back to creating, then it was a good purchase. I just can't rely on that to always be the kicker. Need to just sit with what I got and dig deeper into it.

Watching these videos on the new MPC's workflow made me want to buy my first synth. I never thought I'd use one (being a sample based beat maker) but I think it's opening up many possibilities and allows experimentation.

Anyone else plan on using a hard synth for (mostly) hiphop beats? Does it work? How's your workflow and which one do you have?

I currently have my eyes on minitaur, minilogue, bass station 2 and even the sub37..
