Yeah, talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Hype lasts for a while, and then it turns into hating the company if it starts to look like they're full of hot air. Technically they haven't lied, but it's not like it's looking dope either.

Ableton killed it last time when they announced Live 9 / Push 2...they were out almost immediately after the announcement if I recall. I heard Push 2 has been selling tons. Imagine what the hype did to the sales of the unit.

Maybe Akai's gonna do the same this time. Hope so. I'm an Akai fan, but can't say I consider them big league anymore. They used to be a leader for a while but lost that position, imho.

The guys at Nukai have never been leaders.

They´ve ruined the MPC line and shitted on its legacy and the community.

Back in the days I was proud of rocking an Akai MPC, nowadays I am like this whenever I see their toyish and cheap "instruments": :Sigh:

At the end of the day akai might as well be working for native instruments at this point. They are just delivering them customers. Except the loyal suckers like us a lot of the big names have moved over to maschine.

One idea is to channel your frustration into learning another DAW and possibly selling your REN as they continue to go down in price. Ableton is light years beyond any MPC software offerings.

I do understand that some that are attached to the workflow (or lack thereof depending on your opinion) of the MPC software but there are plenty of resources to aid in your learning. I'm currently getting used to the workflow of Reaper and still can't believe how lightweight it is. I have yet to experience a crash on it.

+1 to learning new stuff. This whole summer and fall i've integrated maschine 2.5 plugin as a sound module, Reason 9 as sound module and realtime timestretcher. For some songs I end up dumping out to Ableton Live in clip mode for Live remixing.

I've been having alot of fun this way.

@kaydigi have you checked the real time stretching in Ableton ? The way it 'warps' is pretty crazy in my opinion and it sounds good too.

I was hardcore Vegas for years. People were amazed when I switched to Reaper. It's some great shit without the bloatware.

Yes to this.

Currently learning Logic and so far it has been an excellent experience. Akai can keep 2.0 to themselves for as long as they like for all I care.

@Lampdog I still have an old version of Acid installed before Sony bought them!

@Ocular right and I'm sure you noticed that switching over to a real DAW helped your creative output a lot right?

I mean sh*t man, people could even use Geist with a MPD and bang out joints like its nothing. I know the purpose of the REN is to have the feeling like we're working on a stand alone unit but at this point its like having that pretty girl that only 'kind of' puts out and never lets you stick it in all the way.

When did the MPC software take over DAW duties? Shout to the people who were against going in a DAW direction, I think the main thinking was how long will it take? Lol

Why would anybody with past MPC experience be mad? This new stuff does way more stuff. The core idea for me is this product is an MPC, a sampling drum machine with a sequencer.

No way they're going to make it into a full-blown DAW. That'd be a massive undertaking.
Seeing how slow they've been with bugfixes and addressing some basic features such as PDC, that'd take them 5 years at least. Based on their speed and software "expertise", I'd guess they're still working on those announced 2.0 features.

Seems Pete has replied "yes" to somebody asking "Any 2.0 action?"
Go figure.

Obviously none of these companies are perfect. However, Native Instruments, Ableton, Presonus, seem to always be moving forward and more conscious of their customer base.

I don't have any major issues with my MPC Touch, but if I were new to this game...I'd roll with one of the other companies. They just seem to have more to offer.

I'm just stuck in my old ways having used MPC's for so long and preferring it's work flow.

I'm entertaining the thought of trying out Maschine Studio. As a Komplete user I like the way the two are integrated.

P much. I was explaining to a friend the other day, I put down a bass line then 5 minutes later I have drums and an accompaniment part to it, with change ups and other instrumentation in mind. Things tend to flow along better. That didn't happen with MPC Software. I'm not sure why.

I'm not sure what to blame: the tools, myself, or both. I guess MPC Sw just didn't really click with me like I thought it would. It's hard to come to terms with that after using MPCs for so long, but it's not a bad thing and I'm glad it happened.
