Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.

I only use standalone. Hype blows them away but is way too bloated for what it does, interactive graphics of suns setting over the ocean is the type of stuff im talking about. It’s too resource heavy for the live or x to run as was said by dan unless they optimize it some.

It’s far and beyond the other three put together and sample based bread and butter digital stuff that actually sounds great, not all of it but there is some good stuff there on par with the apps on my iPad like Kong wave station and moog model d but basically a preset synth that you can refine some.

The best way for me to convey my opinion is that you could make an album with just hype and some sample packs to about the same level you could make an album with an Akai miniak or iPad app and a mpc where the three on the live will only get you so far.

Been saying it but look more for the air drum synth to be ported over.

Ahhh, and so it goes. I'm sure that's how you use it, anyway.

Wait... "it’s too resource heavy for the live or x to run as was said by dan unless they optimize it some"? I'm confused.. the Force uses the same CPU/RAM as the Live/X, doesn't it? I thought Dan said they just need to implement disc streaming on the Live/X is all...

Standalone works for me so far, sounds great, and i enjoy the workflow. If i want to spend some time mixing down with the works, then sure, i’d be best served exploding out and into my daw, but i like doing stuff inside the mpc, good times. Anything that facilitates recording, arranging and editing in there is alright by me.

You may be right Enoch. I didn’t follow dan much on there. Would make sense, I was going off memory from like almost a year ago...
I thought the force was optimized some vs the live for the way it lays out the tracks and the reason we don’t see more parity on the live/x

Quote from xparis001:

Off topic:
So Hype has a pretty large sample set that's installed on the eMMC on Force, but MPC uses that space right now, so it will require Hype to be installed separately, and most likely, you'll have to have a SATA drive installed for the samples / waveforms / wavetables etc etc. That's not a 2.4 thing, but a later thing.

That's all I can say, as the announcement is forthcoming, but I'm sure you know what's coming, as its not up in the AIR right now

(oh, and thats not all for 2.4. you guys will like it)

+1000 but you forget better 16 through 20.

2. Track select: A option to change tracks using shift plus pad number.

3. Timing correct & click: Put this future back to traditional location. F1, f2 soft keys. The remedy to MIDI/audio can be shift F1,f2

4. Auto select: When picking plugins sounds there is no Auto select like on Renaissance GUI.
"This Major useful especially for the new stand-alone plugins"

5. Sequence change:
I'm not sure if this is a bug or it's supposed to operate this way. While the sequence is playing and you change to sequence 2 it doesn't show that it has changed. You have to guess.

6. Gridview: using the pencil, erase and select should all allow You to two finger zoom in or out.
Three finger scroll left right up and down.

7. cursor movement: Cursor should flow through the entire GUI from left and right up and down in its proper order of operation. as of now it skips to different directions.

8. Option to use mouse in standalone gui.

9. Browser: add a copy, paste function to shift menu.

10. Browser: Optional waveform view that can show/hide von left hand side.
"Good for viewing long samples to see their content and decide if one wants load or not"

11. Song mode needs explode tracks.
"This future was in previous versions of mpc software"

12. Option to erase all tracks

13. Main button should close and return to main veiw On all sceens of controller and standalone gui.

14. Main button. Option to expand (show/hide) effects and mixer settings on main view by clicking main button once.

15. Qlink MIDI: Option to change midi tracks levels using a qlink.

CharlesRandolph wrote:In my opinion the sounds on the MPC LIVE/X are very usable. It's up to the user to tweak, compose, and make them sound good. Same thing goes with the effects. It's all about how you manipulate the sound source.

Drums wise, yes. However for synth stuff it’s rudimentary at best. Minimal stock keygroups that aren’t techno rises and sqweltchy bassline stuff, the synths all start to sound the same after awhile although the electric piano one goes pretty far for that sound. Hype sets a different bar, but still not something I would want to start with init patch with. They refine it and let you swap out the oscillators/samples and better editing, then maybe it’s a “force to be reckoned with” . Literally the intersection of wavestation and mini ak with a pretty gui and drowned in air effects that i can do better with in outboard.

And yea, quick really knows his shi. Wish I had the time he does to really understand the gear in and out. Makes fire beats too.

Do you have a particular Keygroup, effects chain?

Jesus **** christ. What the hell just happened?   Charlie's trolling again.

Anyway, yeah - I'm just saying having Hype in standalone would be a massive boost to the Live/X. IMHO, TubeSynth, Bassline, and Electric just aren't really that interesting at all.

Do any of you use TubeSynth, Bassline, or Electric?
