There is some truly amazing iOS iPad apps for music - such an incredible environment to work on. Don't worry about cable length :WTF: :roll: :lol: USB-C max speed is reliable up to 1 meter (3.28 feet). Speeds drop off after that, but it won't affect MIDI or audio over USB at all. Even USB 2 will be fine, and completely capable of multitrack audio. Regular USB 2 cable can run 5 meters (16 feet!) at max speed.

There's a ton of free and inexpensive iOS synths out there. Highly recommend Audio Kit Synth One and Digital D1, as well as KV331's SynthMaster One (these 3 synths should be iOS producer staples IMHO). Being a fellow Reason fan, if you want a Reason-like experience, try NanoStudio 2. Audio Kit's FM Player 2 is fantastic as well, but it's a little buggy (its GUI/UX won't load when used as an AUv3 in NanoStudio 2). All of these have standalone modes, so you can use your iPad as a single hardware synth, or you can host them in various AUv3 hosts and run them simultaneously. They're really fantastic! If you want an Ableton Live feel, give RemixLive a try - it's probably the best on the platform, IMHO.

Again @DANOC when you do venture into it. Get the shortest, shielded, high-quality USB C Cable and 5 PIN MIDI cable you can find. This will cut down on the world of spaghetti you don't want and signal interference.

Also don't forget the HyperDrive 6-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter. I use this with my SSL 2+ audio/midi interface. This way you could use your MPC LIVE and CME/MIDI Keyboard combo.

Dang. I gotta lok into this. That's dope l could use the ipad like synth with cheap or free plugins. I would have to figure out how to have ut work with the live. I know about Synth Master and the others l will look into. Im ecited again.

I wilk look into it. Are you saying the cable that comes with the CME isn't good enough to connect with the live?

I was saying for the iPad and in general. I use the iPad Pro strictly as a sound module. I don't want it as a recorder or sequencer, because I don't like jumping around and saving things in different places.

So with the synth apps l will be able to use the iPad like a synth module going unto the MPC live?

Of course you can, plenty of us have been doing exactly that for years. ipad/phone is a GREAT sound source that some people sleep on. Real example: I have Thor app (many others too) on ipad, I play/control it on my Kronos keyboard.

I am also guesstimating you could use that CME xkey 37 also.

Thanks. Yes sir l will be using the CME 37. I would like to trigger synths in the MPC and possibly the synths on the ipad. So audio can be recorded from the ipad to the MPC directly?

Yes, but you have to use a dongle, because the 2018 iPad PRO and up does not have a headphone out. That's one of the main reason, I use an SSL 2+ audio interface with it. Well, that and MIDI i/o, control over levels, headphone amp, and monitor levels.

I've mentioned there are some Focusrite audio interface, that can power directly off the iPAD Pro USB C port. I've never personally owned one or used it, so I can't verify the quality of the setup. But the Xkey 37/MPC Live combo would work with iPad with the way I have it setup.

Im not trying to get into interfaces stuff again. That's why lm ITB. If l just have to work without the ipad it will just be the MPC and CME.

You're going to need some kind of MIDI interface and Audio out.

Why would l need an audio out? The CME will be triggering the the sounds in the MPC live.

I'm saying it for the iPAD, other than that the CME and MPC Live should be pretty straight forward setup.

Shame the MPC's does not send MIDI OUT and Audio Out over USB in standalone. that would've solve the whole interface issue with the ipad.
