I'm in the same boat. I have an MPC One arriving on Wednesday (had to source it from Europe, North America seems to be stock out for at least a few more weeks) but I'm starting to wonder whether I should have picked up an X instead.
I don't want to doom my One to a fate of being returned just yet, so I think I will give it an honest workout for the next few months to see how well we gel. My main sticking points are that it has no larger internal storage option and I tend to be cursed when it comes to SD cards (even reputable cards seem to die on me at an alarming rate, so I'm very gun shy). USB is limited to USB2 so dangling an external SSD is a sub-optimal option but given that sample loading only happens every so often shouldn't be a huge issue. I can see in my head where I'd really lust after the X's array of q-links but maybe four will fit just fine into my workflow.
I'd consider a Live2 to solve some of my concerns but I don't need the battery or speaker since I never plan to move this off my desk and portability is a non-issue. And quite frankly if I'm going to spend (approaching) twice the price of the One I might as well just shell out for the X and get all the knobs and inputs I'd ever need.
But I'm trying very hard not to pre-judge the One based on gear acquisition syndrome. It will probably be more MPC than I will ever use in its own right, just remains to see whether I feel I'd be more productive having more knobs and buttons and internal storage or whether I can be happy with what I have.
Worst case scenario it finds a new home on Reverb and I go MPX anyway so no big loss either way
