Dude; I know what your talking about and share the pain :( All of my MPCs you were able to make a beat, and say if you didn’t like the kic pattern, you would mute that pad, and play another pattern while the beat is playing until you come up with something you feel! DONT KNOW WHY THEY ELIMINATED THIS FROM THE FIRST UPDATES ON THE MPCX/LIVE It make no sense!
It was part of my workflow, and probably countless other! Akai needs to bring that simple function back! All of this rerouting midi, patching it through a microwave oven BS is lol, sorry for I my rant.
I just wanted to see if I was the only one that feels it’s missing from the workflow.

Don't know exactly what it does, because I never use it.. But on the X at least, there's a hardware button saying Pad Mute, but maybe it refers to something else.

Really expected Akai to fix it on 2.10, i even sent several issue report to Akai support, but actually the feedback seem to never be brought up to development team.

It's so insane, that was a really useful part of all mpc's workflow for ages. The worse is that the monitor trick doesn't fully replace it as you can do nothing if you're in position where the track has mute automation.
