New Plugin Instruments 2023

2.5 gigs of samples out of a Korg M1... The Keygroup engine could certainly use some better programming possibilities. Open up the internals and add a macro programming language, and people could create proper behavioral instruments like for Kontakt. Not to even think about Reaktor...

Well, Roland did "implement" their supersaw oscillator as one long sample. If you can throw hardware resources at the problem, you'll need to spend fewer developer hours. Developer hours produce bugs anyway.

TBH, I think it's slightly absurd that more RAM and longer loading times are needed due to lack of disk streaming, which has been a basic sampler feature in sampler plugins since forever. So it's actually a selling point of new 4 gig models, "now you can wait even longer doing dumb stuff like preloading all sample data into memory?"

akai doing a good job developing the platform; regardless of all the complaints but just need a good rompler as not convinced by fabric and the juno emulation is welcome, would be good to see what other eynths they add, but we need some presets for different genres for all these synths

If you're patient, you can buy an M1 for not much more than they would probably charge you for a plugin version.. Not to mention Akai cant recreate an M1 for the same reason they cant do a Roland rompler.

Those things are a dime a dozen around here, anywhere from $150-300 or so.. Only reason I bought the Korg plugin was because I don't have the space left for the actual unit in my rack (or a full size keyboard).

That might not be true.

Fairlight gave one patch designer rights to distribute sample libraries using recordings from the Fairlight CMI soundbanks.

They were originally Reason refills, but he soon branched out to Kontakt patches. It's only sample-based, but I've got a lot of mileage from it.

It's the BitleyTM Fairlight CMI Refill / Kontakt library.

If there's enough demand for it, maybe his NNXT sampler patches can be converted into keygroups.

Yes, three teenage kids, no matter what work plans I make at least one of them does something that ends up sapping a couple of days out of my week

Didn't want to start a new thread just to say this....

Purchased your latest instrument expansion (Melodic Percussion) and as always it's way more professional in every way than what Akai is putting out. They really should take a leaf out of your book regarding the whole payment and file access setup.
The fact that we just login to the site, pay for the expansion and instantly get a link as well as email notification (also with link) and it remains in our filebank permanently in case we need to re-download in the future.
Buying expansions from Akai always feels like a poker game to me, you never really get a sense of secure transaction and never know where your files are in future
I think the new plugin system is a little better, at least being able to directly download to the MPC means it should be simple to restore plugins after a hard drive failure (hopefully)
I only ever buy expansions from you (mpc-samples.com) as for some reason in my mind I've always thought of them as "official" products. The overall quality and content is just heads and shoulders above whatever else I've seen. As well as the sound, they always have more professional look to the artwork used on the thumbnails, which may sound trivial but it all adds tt the package.
It's a shame your instruments couldn't come wrapped in a beautiful GUI like the Akai/AIR plugins, that would be the cherry on the cake

P.S. Who exactly are these "Pad Pimps" it's not your kids being forced to work in your studio for pocket money is it

Lol, no just a brand I'm developing as soon I'll be offering expansions for multiple platforms so using 'mpc....' isn't going to cut it if I'm also offering Maschine kits, Kontakt libraries etc.

No, the new Akai plugins pay system is even worst then ever.
I had a hell of a time trying to buy an offer of 99$, I recieved no mail, no registration on mpc site but the transaction was accepted. So I almost lost 99$ and I tried in all possible ways to get the plugins I bought. I sent an email to Akai and they replied that they don't have anything to do with the company that manages the transactions, which is a 3rd party company. As for the plugins, they didn't have any track of my purchase.
So no plugin but the transaction was done and the money taken from that 3rd party company that works for Akai.
At the end I had to call my bank but they said they couldn't do anything because there wasn't anything wrong with the transactions.
Why this situation? Because payment and plugin deliver are separated and processed by separate companies.
An horrible way to manage plugin sellings.
I couldn't contact the 3rd party company because I needed a code to write a ticket but, having received no mail at purchase, I had no bloody code.
So I was stuck.
At the end my bank managed to delete the transaction, I didn't even know how they did it but fortunately I didn't lose my money.
But I just thought I will never buy a plugin anymore from Akai.
