Didn’t stop me from enjoying my Triton Extreme at all. Presets are starting points imo. Sometimes I’ll tweak ‘em just a little, most times alot. Sometimes even start from scratch.

No rules.
No uppity elitism.
Just fun making music.
And random azz noises (which is really fun, it can snatch your whole afternoon away).

Maybe you didn't the whole thread or missed the point that started this exchange. You're not complaining about the Triton presets (& yeah remember that time damn you Neptunes ). Jpeg was complaining that most of the Akai presets aren't useable for the music he makes, which I told him you can't expect most presets to be useful for most users. I'm not gonna go over everything after that since the posts are still there.


I wasn't making rules or trying to be uppity (funny azz word - sorry ) I was just giving my reasons why most (not all) unedited presets won't be useful to most users & the a downside for even if they are high quality - tho you can still use them. I told him to do what he thinks is best & to have fun. Also, I agree that random azz noises can be very pleasantly time consuming

I got a EMU Proteus-2500 in 2019 upgraded from the 2000 after it broke in 2012. & Like I said earlier I mainly used PRESETS

Try not to make assumptions about a stranger or anyone really. (check out the book "the 4 agreements" - it helped me out a lot), but do try to proof read what you write. You spelled music wrong twice, as well as original (I would make a joke that you can't even spell "original music" but I wont, we all make mistakes, but that's what a spell checker is for) & you also missed the word "think" on the first line, but I don't want to assume that's the word you meant to add.

It seemed like you tried to write something slick & over-complicated your point. But based on what I think you meant, my reply is - I wouldn't bet your life on it. Now about over complicating the process, that can be true but so can the opposite, but if you want better stock presets wouldn't the sound designers presets need to be some what complex (within reason) so that someone that don't want to do it themselves wont complain about wack presets?

Anyway I did honestly agreed with you about being able to use presets to create something cool that why I mentioned the way I used the Proteus-2000. When you said that "if the melody is dope" It reminded me of the the same mind-set I developed during that time.

Here's a link to a beat I first made back in 2003 on the SP-505 & a Yamaha PSR-77 (look up this keyboard if you want a good laugh) it's a GM keyboard that's super BASIC! you can't edit the sounds on the machine & it does't even have MIDI in/out just audio .

LOL it from a post of me arguing with someone You don't have to read all that the beat is at the bottom of the post.

The main melody is just a unedited E-Piano preset from the 77 that I sampled into the 505. Last November I got another 505 since my first one broke around 2006 & I've been moving all the 505 beats to the Force. Unfortunately, I did something wrong with file management years ago & lost a lot of the samples on the 505, but lucky I still had the MIDI seq data for the drums parts & 1 melody sampled from the 77, buy lost the 2 others the bass & maybe another melody or harmony part.

The melody is still the loop that I first played back in 2003, but since I lost most of the beat & I didn't want to really go in on it at the time I didn't even chop it up, I just played the loop by taping on the 1 pad it was on to play a cool melody as a jam-sketch for now. The new bass parts is just the me messing with the melody samples on the Force, but nothing too complex...yet

I'm not trying to battle you (I don't even like beat battles, but that's a whole another topic) I just want to let you know I get you on just using simple presets. So can I hear your example? Thanks & if not that's cool.
