MSXII Lo-Fly audio coloring plugin coming to MPC

I don't think it has anything to do with Air plugins, more that this lofly plugin was actually introduced into the firmware years ago, I seem to remember it popping up in a really old beta firmware we tested. It's been held up for whatever reason, so it's just been 'lurking'. Just guessing though, but I wouldn't want to assume that all future AIR plugins are going to work with 2.15.

qubiq plugz are sideloaded via .qbqz file and don't exist in the fw, this the reason we know about AIR Reverb Pro which is embedded in the firmware but don't know about any upcoming qubiq format plugz. I mean you could potentially scrape the FW for any strings related to those plugins or something that will give you a vague idea but since AKAI use a ton of 3rd party libraries that come with plugin examples (such as dattorro reverb / will c. pirkle examples etc..) you can't be sure if those strings are from new plugins or from the library examples. for example, you have stuff like:
Dattorro Reverb, Economy Reverb, Mod Reverb, DJReverb, Algorithmic Reverb, Animated Reverb, Reverb no octaves, Matrix Reverb, Hybrid Reverb etc, etc... - I mean... that's just a reverb let alone other stuff

Anyway, is that Lo-Fly is out already ? Is there any purchase link or something ? I can see that the content is up on the server but havent seen any purchase link ?

- honestly, can't be bothered anymore... too much hassle and too much waste of a time. I mean, it used to be fun and...exciting, nowadays even unlocking the new image feels like grinding I became old, lazy and grumpy

Haha you are where I was two years ago. I got to this point where I was being crushed by the weight of single handedly keeping up with every update and having to rebuild the rom, and upload it and what not. I went ballistic on zangetsu told him to gtf away from me and leave me alone and started to resent him rofl. Tbf he's a good dude I just couldn't keep going and juggling denon + akai + headrush + sony psp + linux + anything else digital i put my hands on...

I am back on 2.14.0 with all the plugins for that build unlocked and making music just fine. I have keyboards, i have multiple sets of turntables, guitars, samplers, pedals galore, crates of records, boxes and boxes of dvds and vhs tapes. A couple audio interfaces and high bandwidth cluster for computing and reaper it's gotta be enough to make a fkn album or fifty. I think I might post my 2.14.0 freeplugins rom for the folks who are hanging back.

I am stoked that I can now sit back and just use my mpc. It's update cycle imho is finished.

yeah, it's an old plugin made out of audiokit building blocks iirc so I do understand his frustration but at the same time it's not as bad as he portrait it (be aware that i'm not trying to defend it). I think it's down to what you expect from such plugin and the situation - in certain scenarios, you don't need to bog down your machine with several instances of air flavor and at the same time vintage mode don't cut it. I think that Conan's biggest point in this video is that people shouldn't treat those plugins as some sort of pokemons and try to collect them all Same way as you wouldn't use every single Komplete library just because it's available, same way you shouldn't get all jizzed up because akai had released a new plugin
I mean... Is akai blatantly milking the half dead platform ? sure obviously, but is it bad that we're getting 3rd party plugin ports - absolutely not, keep them coming. Personally would love to have 4 MIDI plugin slots on each track so you could load/develop plugins that will transform your input

Why did it say this is the first 3rd party plug in but I thought the NI stuff and the odyssey were both 3rd party also?

In my mind I would read it as the „true outsider” or first „third world” (in it’s true meaning, not derogatory one) developer, not affiliated with any of the big cliques (trying to refrain myself from saying „circlejerks” ) - NI/iZoptope/Brainworx, Akai/Air/BigTick/2gether Audio etc… notice that MSXII is primarily a sample packs company that happens to make a couple of plugins to help them streamline pack creation. Imagine @Tutor making his own digital version of bible that happen to be incorporated into mpc as an interactive tutorial mode (dibs on 33% of revenue made on my idea )

anyway… I’ve installed the trial yesterday (that’s a bloody long story in itself - congratulations akai you’ve made my blood boil) and… I would like to change my previous answer to „this plugin didn’t aged well” (again, trying to refrain myself from saying „is shit” ). Long story short - nostalgia is a powerfull drug, based on how long and how and how many times i’ve been using it, I could swear by this plugin but after revisiting it, I have to apologise for stepping against conan - everything he said is 100% true - every type of effect sounds like a simple overlay or a sample played on top of your audio, no dry/wet is some sort of misunderstanding and GUI on that small 7 inch screen (horizonatal screen vs vertical plugin) is as bad as it can get
I mean don’t get me wrong, it was amazing plugin a couple years ago on iPad but it shouldn’t be ported to this platform, it’s simply way past it’s expiration date.

'Ring The Alarm' still the king, best MPC plugin ever, and also available for a once-in-a-lifetime deal in Akai's spring sale.

EDIT: Actually, it was released at £25, most places still is £25, but on Air's site and mpcstore it's listed as RRP £29 (on sale at £19). Has it ever been sold at £29? Naughty.

I always thought ring the alarm was an internal joke at Akai. Some kind of test to see how much people are out there willing to pay for anything they release.

yeah, it’s either that or just a test on production (a first(?) qubiq plugin on this platform) that in their infinite wisdom/greed got monetized without any rhyme or reason.
