Does the One Export and explode? Cause it better being it only has stereo out.

In controller mode, even a song loaded from the MPCs internal drive is loaded into the computers ram. The hardware itself has all those channels available, so it is possible. The Mac and Windows driver can do it so they just have to make the driver support it on the standalone side.

They should change the name because is it really a Midi production center now it seems to want all sounds and synths in the box and midi is not a strong point.

MPC stands for Music Production Center now. I think that changed with the MPC 4000 IN 2002.

Can the MPC's SOC handle 32 tracks of audio over USB?

But what about 76 and 88 with triple sensor, hammer actions, ivory and wood feel, and full size keys.
Also it triple pedals and software to edit the velocity curve. Don't forget an external touch screen monitor for notion.

now my comments...

i was one of the first to get both the live and X. i sold them both a few months ago to cats who would give them the love they deserve. i moved on to the Fantom 8 platform because i wanted a different workflow.

this weekend i saw andy at the inmusic both and saw the one (i didn't even know it existed). it has a nice feel to it. the pads are smaller and feel that way but still have that mpc feel.

i was going to grab a 707 just because i miss creating music on the go in standalone (i would carry it everyday) but at the price point of the one its a no brainer over roland, and i am a huge roland fan (already ordered the jupiter x).

im not gonna miss the battery nor ableton because i don't use computers for music. bluetooth and wireless were gimmicks TO ME (YMMV) and preferred midi for near zero latency. the phono input--maaaaaybe ... it was a "nice to have".

i track out to an analog desk and will miss the extra outputs, but im also used to hardware gear with only two outputs so ill get over that.

anyone on the fence about this unit should give it a consideration. its still got the live/x swag, just in a smaller box (i also much prefer the square over the rectangle of the live). the physical buttons are a GOOD REASON to consider the ONE!!! less menu diving and shift+ pad (which I never got into because I would not remember the shortcuts. :p) nonsense.

MPC tutor mentioned a few pages back (i read this entire thread) he was not comfy with inmusic hiding the ableton stuff "just because" , and I agree with him, but sadly I see more hardware companies (like tektronix for example) making gear that "ships" with all the bells and whistles (software) but its "hidden" and you can only access it if you buy that additional functionality. the company will then push a software update over ethernet to "unlock" the features. its a business model that seems to be trickling down to music companies, so i can totally see the big corporation in-music adopting this on future products...

Indeed. It all really goes back to my affinity for the ASR-10 / 88. Even back then I thought that if someone would integrate pads into this form-factor, it would be golden. Akai came close with the MPK line, but the standalone software wasn't near ready for it. But now, with Akai's MPC platform, it would make perfect sense IMO, and could sit nicely in between the Force and MPCs as a form-factor offering. But they may know more than I do - maybe they know I'd be one of the only few that would buy it. LOL
