cool, I was thinking about sampling from phone or tablet, hence the idea about having a port on the front, maybe two usb C ports would of been called for, but all minor ideas.

looking forward to seeing the full reveal/demos

Hahaha.. They gone reserve the extra USB C ports for the MPC XL II lol..

I do wonder why, if this is a genuine MPC XL that they've decided to go with those rubberised buttons for the Flagship...

I hated those on the MPCKEY61 its one of the reasons I sold it....the rubber fades and changes to a grey/white texture after a while and attracts dirt and grime easily and can see in time they'll become unusable over years of use, also hope the rubber coatings used isn't that rubber that melts and becomes sticky....Awful....and nightmare to get rid of the residue had this on my Korg Oasys sliders, at least you could replace those slider caps....

Reminds me of the Sinclair ZX spectrum computer buttons!! :smh:

this is one of the few design decisions i actually like. i think they nailed the rubber buttons on the key61.

if i could choose i would go for the big click buttons from the 3000 with the mould.

Design is, of course a very personal thing, but for me.... I would have liked black metal (no shiny plastic fingerprint scratchy crap) with maybe a dark gunmetal grey where the white is. That along with walnut side panels and I'd be happy :)

The above example looks really nice but is a little "too black" hence my gunmetal grey idea. Yes I know you can skin these with whatever you like but I don't like sticking transfers on my equipment, I'd rather have it done properly.

The buttons is a wait and see for me. I've never seen the Key61 so don't know what they are like to use. My initial response is that I would have preferred the transport butoons at least to have stayed traditional to the old X.
I think the Q-Links and OLED's look much nicer horizontally, though actual use....we will see. The kickstand on the screen looks even smaller than the X, I was hoping for something MUCH more solid on the new model. Hopefully the screen housing is now metal (though I doubt it)
I think a good choice would have been to use one of these newer wider ratio screens you see these days, something like a 21:9 or something, then the back end of the MPC could just be a fold up screen and show all the track and mixer layout on a really wide canvas.

.....still hoping for monitor out and mouse support ;) hopefully the MPC XL+ will have them in 2032

gotta contrast the all black MPC XL artistict impression with one of the former most ugly MPC (imo) which is the MPC4000 which actually looks sleek in black compared to the new MPC XL.

The default colourwave of the 4000 looked terrible but it looks clean in matt black; but I think the 4000 and MPC60 mk2 are the two least attractive MPC's historically.

But this new gen of MPC seems to be intent on taking the ugly titles despite being more powerful than the previous gens.

Aren’t most phone cords c to a though? I know done aren’t but most gas station ones are. Can you not sample from the a ports? I don’t really mess with usb too much.

It seems like they picked the two color to allow for better contrast. The top dark color helps all the knob lights, the meter lights & OLED screens stand out. The middle creme/light color helps the black buttons pop out. The black arm rest & the dark top creates a frame around the button, pads & the main ecoder - the place you’ll be spending most of your time at.

This site the is the best for finding info on any MPC, but it's also the best MPC circle-jerk at the same time. If you don't love it, then get the "he'll" outta here!
