This is 100% real I demoed this for Akai 2 years ago when they first came out with the MPC touch I demoed it at their Factory in Cumberland Rhode Island personally it's not my taste but I can see how some people will love it I personally and my Ableton push 2 men... I'm surprised there's pictures of it out there I took a picture and it made me delete it LOL but yes it's a hundred percent real it was supposed to be called The Renaissance X but I guess they're just going with X

Looking good. Where is this from?


I've been analyzing this picture for a while and came to the conclusion (that I believe) that this is fake.
Compared to the Renaissance and the MPC Legacy/Eclipse this one is missing a few buttons below the screen and when you zoom on the arm rest it becomes very pixelated compared to the rest of the picture.

Looking at the pads, the 3rd and the 4th row dont align like the first 2. :hmmm:

The longer I look at it the faker it gets.

Allright thanks for uploading this picture.. And sorry for my earlier doubts.. Looking at it from this angle this beast looks very sexy.. :worthy:

Do know if its a controler or stand alone..??

Agreed, but surely this is fake, otherwise it seems very little thought has been put into the design, basically bolt a bigger screen on the Ren, job done. Was hoping for something a bit more ingenious.


I think u was reaching a bit far as hoping for something more revolutionary design wise, I think it would be to much of a risk to totally abandon the traditional MPC layout for the flagship, they experimented with the touch but dats as far as it goes

Not revolutionary, but for example that big screen is just looking a bit precarious, and from the other images it's clearly jutting out quite far at the back when not tilted. How's that going to work when it's been carted around? Easily broken? It's not a particularly 'elegant' solution is it?

People were quick to criticise the MPC2500 XLCD upgrade because of this same reason, but that's an aftermarket, third party upgrade, making do with what they had to work with. Akai have cart blanche to design these things from the ground up, so you'd think they'd come up with something that can be tucked away when transporting. Well perhaps they have done, obviously we'll have to see, but it doesn't look like it at this stage. :popcorn:

Based on the pics alone, the screen is the only question mark for me atm, too. The outline of the unit on the FCC site showed it goes further than the rear panel.
Everything else looks pretty good. Looks like you're going to hit that screen here and there quite easily if you move it around. You gotta hope it's sturdy as heck and not easily broken. The screen in 2500, for example, is pretty sturdy, though.

All would be good if the screen was detachable. If not we are going to need a 3rd party to produce a back panel that fills that area.

Guys, quit being such naysayers; it's obviously a small division of a not-very-big company trying to put this thing together; they've frustrated me to no end, but the Ren MPC software IS pretty good right now, the problem with it is setting up a good machine to run it on. All things considered, the Ren is probably the most slagged good piece of gear in recent memory.

If (emphasize "if") this is well implemented, it will be the best MPC ever, which, in 2017, shouldn't be asking too much.

Question; what are the 4 1/4" inputs on the left of the headphone section on the front panel? I can't read it, but does it say "aux" or "in" as in the ability to patch in outboard gear / multiple line ins?!?!?!?

depending on price vs what it does compared to my 4k, akai may force my hand, but they need to get it right.

also i will not sell my other mpc's to fund this one as i seen people make the same mistakes with other gear in order to get the best/latest but then pay premium amounts to get that old piece back again.
