I was ultimately proven correct on 3.0; the mini if it comes will look as described by the dude who orginally started rumour think of live meets mpc500

The joke wasn't about you being right or wrong about something that Akai already said they would do. It was about how you kept being wrong about when it would come out with these "weird" reasons why it should happen this time at NAMM or whatever for years until they finally did release it & then you telling people to kiss your finger because you "proved" everyone wrong after saying its "coming right around the corner for years"

Not everyone thought MPC3.0 was a myth. As a Force users It made sense to me. I got into a argument on Gearspace over me saying the matrix should & most likely will come to 3.0 it was first released - but I don't want anyone from any beatmaking forum kissing on me :vomit:

With Live3 I thought there would be more interested in this new major feature. Is there anyone around known to for using the MPCe pads to make some new type of music?

what makes u think the point of the pads is to make a new type of music? the pads are a tool, the pads feel less rigid and more responsive.

The new pads allow more performance options and that is beneficial in of itself

Creative ass people like Grand Master Flash is why I think that. Nobody thought using a record player in a way that was not intended would create a whole new form of music. Sorry if you're not that type of person. If any thing, its too new of a feature for most people to get really deep into it, but I just wanted to know if anyone knew someone using it to make some cool music.

I wonder how little 70s kids got they're ass whooped trying to be like Flash..
BOY YOU BETTER NOT MESSING UP MY AL GREEN RECORD!

Nah... it's at least *pretty* easy to guess at an XL around the corner... a variant of the One+ dropping... and we still got the Keys to be updated.

The only two things I can only speculate on would be a Force v2 (possible... but... I think we've seen the evolution into the new MPC Line with Pro Pack)... and an MPC Mini... which if it became a thing I could go either way with... a traditional screen would be too big... using an external display like your phone is annoying (see OP-Z)... and a tiny display such as the MPC 500... also annoying.

So I think the XL is clearly coming rapidly... and what's next...

obviously we all know the XL is next up, no guesswork is needed, the evidence is clear enuff for a blind man to see.

the speculation is whats next? Force 2 or a Force keyboard, or the MPC Two, based on Akai repeating the same order of releases as the previous gens with these new gens, these are most likely to drop next.

The next model will drop 2nd half of 2026

This seems mostly to me, except I don't know when the next units will be released. If like last time then it will probably be in 2027 but the timing could be different this time around, especially if they have brand new types if MPCs coming out like Key88 & a Mini or whatever.

Hopefully the Force2 is next but they rename it to MPC64. It would be better received in 2027 than it was in 2019. May be they'll dropped the Force & the new One together. A device more specialized to run 3.0 & a compact lower priced model coming out after the L3 & the big-ass XL, would make sense & offers plenty of options before we even get to any of new MPC Keys.

Exciting times!

To be fair we've kinda' been in a perpetual beta status for years. Every public "stable" release will drop with a ton of bug fixes and often new features, but there will always either be lingering bugs in those releases or new ones introduced. Such is the way of world these days.

I think its highly likely there will be another MPC unit this year; so expect something in the fall, I really want to see the MPC Two this year.

The fact that its only January & we still have the whole yeah is ahead of us something new might dropped. Also, because they already released all the gen1 units, there's some sort of market for each, so maybe the released order will different or maybe they released each gen2 model as earlier.

In a ideal world, all of them would be released together from the start so buyers can best get what they need, but then we wouldn't get the rush of excitement when a new model is leaked. This site would lose so much traffic, but it would be worth it & our dopamine receptors wouldn't be unnecessarily over stimulated allowing us to spend more time doing more important things like making dope beats. :smoker:

If they released all new MPC hardware variations at the same time, AKAI would likely implode as a company. Selling hardware all year is their business model, and releasing new variations periodically generates new and constant revenue, as well as keep the delivery platform healthy to sell optional plugins on. Just my total armchair CEO opinion.

That's an absolutely true assumption. Look at how many of us are reluctant to buy new gear now. Eventually when users become more knowledgable about the hardware they are being sold it will pummet like a stone.

That's not to say mpc is bad, but they arent worth collecting or chasing after for the new one now. If you got a mpc you really like, there's really no need to migrate to a new plastic toy for $3000 when you can probably run it on a $75 arm soc and use an external controller.

If I want a new mpc i will just fabricated it and code my own crap. I dont need any of their hardware components.

To me it's not going to help somebody make a *new* type of music, but it *does* allow you to more quickly and easily be more expressive once it is setup. You can assign a lot of different parameters to the X and Y access, taking into consideration both absolute values and difference values, and then adjust how deep the modulation is for things like pitch, filter cutoff, resonance, bit reduction... the list goes on and on...

So from a purely mechanical explanation, no it's not giving you much of anything that you *couldn't* without MPCe, since you can still go in and automate those parameters manually... but it gives you the freedom to take what might normally be 3 to 4 degrees of expression... note on, note off, velocity, aftertouch... and adds in spacial context to the pads x/y values. Yes, this *is* an exercise to get all of this setup, and it takes some practice to know what you do/don't like, and it *is* very menu "divey" to get going...

All that said, I do have to say, it allows you to get *more* out of a very traditional 16 pad drum kit, and the articulations for x/y can vary from as intense to as subtle as you'd like, and can really help breath some more life into what might otherwise become very stagnant samples that you're going to hear on repeat... which is why a lot of people will drop FX like Flavor Pro or something else that can be pretty subtle for adding in wow/flutter or other effects to help vary a sample over time... except now... you can much more easily (once setup) vary a bit more of those samples through your performance in realtime.

Hope that helps...

Thanks for the breakdown. I wasn't expecting anything too game changing so soon, but this seems like one features where some will use it in cool way it wasn't meant to be used. I'll check out your videos.

I was thinking how on the Force each of the 64 pads can have 1 drum articulation, but we could use 4 pads (like Pads 1, 2, 5 & 6) to = 1 MPCe pad with 4 sections. I'll test this out more & see what I can come up with.

Yet when a company has millions of dollars behind it, custom R&D, and a manufacturing chain that gives you a custom machine... trust me when I say that anything you come up will pale in comparison. But to be fair, I'm saying that as I spoon with my Live 3 and ask it what it wants for breakfast.
