Yes but all those things can also be accomplished with wifi (The Live and X have an wifi interface on board), only the transfer speed will be slower. I don't mind being tethered to an computer.

For me it just opens up more possibilities..

You are not going to be able to do what Ethernet does over wifi. Try tracking 64 channels of audio in real time over wifi with 0.1ms of latency,. We're talking theoretically 866.7 Mb/s wifi vs 10 Gb/s CAT 6. Also why would you tether to computer via USB 3.0 (5gbps) when you can do it over Ethernet. Not to mention the Ethernet Alliance is working on 50 gbps to 100 gbps speeds.

With Ethernet we won't need : CV, MIDI, or USB. It can also be used for audio. All Akai Pro has to do is attach one little 20 cent connect and add some software updates.

So why is nobody doing it then? :hmmm: :hmmm: :hmmm:

what he's proposing would be a minimum of 2 years development, and leave a wide majority of users behind, due to the cost of buying a whole new dante system or whatever format we'd go down.

Now that's some data transferring for your arse! :worthy:

CharlesRandolph wrote:64 channel of audio or render stems and any computer or other machine connected to the network can pull that those files. No more controller mode switching. No more usb key transfer. That also means the live or X, can pull audio from any storage device or computer on the network.

That it would. You won't need a soundcard if your live or x has it. The Live and X is the sound card, all it would need is more inputs.

I don't see the need of tracking 64 tracks over an ethernet connection. It would be better to have disk streaming from SSD (But I know that everyone has their own wish list and I respect that). And to tell you the truth, I don't need all of that. I've already own my X 1 year and for the most part I've learned to live with it's limitations. I'm not going to ask for any fancy stuff anymore. The only thing i want to see added is 'automation edit' from the touchscreen and 'automation on the sub/master busses'.

Add that and I'll be fine..

I understand. However, even if you are using the 8 outs on the X. You'll still need a 8 out snake, which cost me about 134.10 dollars a snake if I solder my own cables. I would rather use, one $3 DOLLAR US Ethernet cable and not have to worry about replacing any noisy cables.

Damm this is kinda dope, I am glad you mentioned this. this would be dope if I had an ethernet port on my Live.
