Going back and forth with the power supply. We could trim off, 4 inches by using a slim power supply. Once that decided, he's going to machine some custom cases. I would do it myself, but I don't have metal work tools. I may build one, out of wood.

The main issue with the Renaissance, is the MPC Software. They really need to get to a solid place. That one of the reason, I was asking about Omni and MPC X/LIve functions.

Hmmm. How do you feel about making two screens, one dedicated to windows and the other to the MPC. Run 2 mini mother boards in it?

Eric Persing built a huge keyboard with Omnisphere in it. That s**t looked dope. Thats why lm asking,

The motherboard supports dual monitors. It's going to be fully integrated pc/mpc so I can install any windows based software on it. I'm going to optimize it, so that only certain plug in, vsti, and software DAW will be installed.

To cut the sounds and cost, I won't install a internal GPU. If needed, I'll use an external one, connected via thunderbolt. I really need to see, how much MPC Ren can be used with Omnisphere.

Dam sounds interesting. I hope to see it when you're finished. I know nothing about the Ren.

What lm doing is chopping hot sounds from Omnisphere and use middle C. Spread it across the pads. I can play my own delays with the sounds. They always come out perfect. Throw reverb on it and bammmm!

Damn that sounds like fun. I did something similar with putting a PC inside of a PS3 to make my own MAME box, but fear of weight, heat, etc would limit doing the same here. My system did have a traditional disk drive in it, but everything else was light work PC parts, and it still had some weight to it, trying to add in a screen would make battery management a tough task. Before the MPC Live was announced - I had wondered about a similar project using a Raspberry Pi and something like the MPD 216, but ultimately admitted to myself the effort I'd put in wouldn't equal what came out and it would just be a passion project, not TRULY useful. I hope yours turns out awesome, that REALLY does sound like fun (I'm an elec eng, and I like making things).

It's going to be 100% functional, the goal it to keep it under 30 pounds. The footprint will be the depth/width of the MPC X. However height will be determined by the power supply. Nothing to cramped due to the heat. So I'm shooting for 7 to 8 inches in height.

I'm only using the REN because I got it for $100.00 US.

shhooooot, aint nothing wrong with that. And honestly, The Ren gives you the space you need to do something like that. I was thinking you were shoving it into a Live frame, Ren/X frame makes more sense, and weight is less of an issue.

You are messing with me now *I want to do this haha*. I could put my MPD to work, could throw my MF Twister in, and do something similar to my PS3 thing to do something similar to what you are talking about, would need to find an affordable touch screen at the right size though, my extra touchscreen is for an arcade unit, so its WAY too big.

I don't use the MPC software much...correction, at all - does it *drive* just like the Live/X?

Meh, I'd redesign the whole thing thinking on it now. One thing I did in Reason that I LOVED, was I had a screen *just* for VSTs, I hate juggling between different screens in my current setup (just one 50ish" screen), and would love to have a screen that the VSTs come up on, instead of the middle of my interface where I am trying to work. If I was to build something like what yo uare talking about, I'd want to have two screens, one for the MPC, and one for - Omnisphere/Komplete, which would bust open the frame of a Ren, and go the custom route. At that point, what's the benefit over a laptop & controller pairing.

hmm...

Never question the blessings. The guys was like, I just want to get rid of it. I can't wrap my head around it. It's taking up space, give me 100 and it's yours. It's had the original box, receipt.

Good news: Traded the MPC REN for MPC 4000. Time to buy OMNISPHERE 2.6.

Frack!

Man you had my hopes up high for that thing.
Dang a 4000? Hmmm
I thougt you had Omni 2.6. Are you going to try and mini that baby up with the 4000?
