My kids have always been good around my equipment. That said I would not have felt comfortable with them around the Live when they were small... especially the way todays kids treat ipads and phones and such. The 5k had so much going for it. Im pretty sure they abandoned the OS on that one too.

5k did have a lot going for it if they took time with it but they dropped the ball

Jericho I hope you get that 4000. I wish Roland would of made the MV8800 now, they were ahead of their time. But with export and exploding on it, render it to disk or USB stick. They even had the VGA on the back to connect a monitor. I like that.

One day... I'm in no rush. I'm enjoying the 2500 and will keep and maintain it. I know I cracked hard on the aesthetics of the Live, but I'm just being real about it.
Yo my man out here had an MV back when they come out and stayed with it for a minute. He was hype on that machine. I know Roland had some interesting technology, with variphrase like in the vsynths. That's another company that left a slew of it's dopest stuff on the cutting room floor VGA!

My real dream is that Roger Linn partners with someone dope and comes out with the real deal. If it ever happens that's where I'm going with my dollars.

Switch out the VGA for HDMI. That would be nice. 2500 is nice too.
Roland is coming with its own version off a drum machine.

That was the first thing I said about the MPC Software. After using that for a couple months, I decided to go MPC and started comparing them all. If you look at the OS specs of the 5000 and compare it to the X/Live/Software its exactly the same, aside from the hardware differences. Didn't the infamous Akai Dan work on the 5000 too? The only thing the new MPCs are missing is the built in Alesis Ion synth. I guess we got some crappy synth plugins instead. Thats why I initially said **** the Live Im getting a 4000. Only reason I didn't get one is there weren't any around at the time, and Guitar Center was brave enough to give me a credit card with enough money to get a Live heh.

Yeah 5000 is the prototype.Its a pretty gritty version too.If you accept the shortcomings its a beast imo.Altho I’m now back on the 4000 which is the real deal of course.The 5is 000 synth is not the Ion like often stated but from the Fusion,pretty raw and chunky.Certainly no soft synth either......Shame there’s no real recordable automation.Bummer.Here it is all sounding curtesy of Tube Digger-

Before selling my Live, I picked up a JJos 2500. I'm mostly otb. Also have 2 external analog filters, model samples, a couple synths, and iOS.

Thats whats up. I have JJOSXL 2500 as well. Its definitely the Predecessor to the Live as far as features.

I'm giving it until 3.0 to decide, but I'm using mine less and less. Logic 10.5 is incredible. Even it had some issues though. But Apple followed it up 2 weeks later with a 3 page list of fixes in 10.5.1.

3.0 is going to be REALLY telling if Akai actually has the talent to meet the potential of this platform.

That's what l said to myself. Akai is not going the direction l like so l got away from them.
