To answer op question. I think Akai is marketing its “legacy” like most companies. So nothing gets refined or innovated and they can sell you new plugins. At least give us the ability to rearrange tracks if we are stuck in a 1980s workflow lol.
Like a previous poster said you get the feeling who ever designed this machine doesn’t have to use it everyday.
When it comes to features mpc wins hands down but it is counterintuitive. why do you think the kids these days are doing one track one program one sequence? Because it’s a cumbersome experience doing it the akai way. It won’t change because the average user dosent care and are waiting for stems 
Actually it’s the opposite. People who have to use a tool to make a product actually don’t have the luxury of whining about their tools. Everything has its downsides, limitations, and bugs. The difference is those who have to deliver a product or service still have to deliver regardless of how they feel about their tools. If something doesn’t work, change them out and keep it moving. I find that customers and clients don’t care about my problems or the challenges I had to face in the real world. They only care about the quality of the results produced. Amateurs get hung up on process. Professionals care about results.
How in the world did people make music before the MPC? With creativity as they do after the MPC. If you have tools that don’t work for you, change to something that does. That’s the grown thing to do.
Again. Just because something doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t work for someone else. Step outside yourself and look around. There are hard core Maschine guys because it works the way the way they need it to. There Logic users who swear by it. People who won’t be caught dead outside of Cubase. Find your tool of choice and be happy. Akai isn’t going to change for you. It’s time you recognize that and make your move. You’re going to have to change. Learn the tool or move on to something else.
Someone who claims to be as knowledgeable and skilled should know how to get results and be about getting them.
