I wish they would just come out with it after keeping people waiting for more than a yr with their broken promises. These clowns think their apple,& are trying to be all mysterious, but fail to realize that you cant pull that sh when you have already flat out lied & not even updated anything with a statement at least.

Official, trustworthy, who knows.

Hes one of the few people to have seen live already.Im not saying he knows the date.im only saying it sounds like for sure its coming first.my source also comes from within the company he says 2.0 is done but their continueing fixing bugs as they will indefinitely anyways but that if they want to they can release at namm. The live is definitely going to be at namm and x is not ready from what im hearing.

Not saying I don't trust your sources or don't believe you but releasing a paid update right before release of a new unit is bad business. But its Akai so anything is possible....

why is it bad business there may be people who dont want to buy a new unit but they want the new software?

As I keep saying its up to them when they release,im merely letting peeps know their ABLE to release 2.0 at or right after namm if they want to. The live is supposedly going to be a bit. And the x is waay out.

I keep getting less and less interested in NAM2017. They just HAVE to bring the X with them.
A lot of us who love the Ren form factor and are ready for a upgrade are going to be so disappointed.. (Not cool)

Because they want to sell units not updates. There are customers who are on the fence if they want to upgrade to the Live or X. If the update came out same time as live then some customers will say f*&% it I might as will buy the live if I'm already a $100 in for update.

If I pay the $100 for an update that I would of got free with Live I would be less likely to fork over more cash for the live when it was later released. Now, if they give you a credit towards on of the new units for buying the 2.0 update it wouldn't matter

I wish they did too, but remember this is akai. And as for it being a bad business move to release 2.0 before hardware thats completely untrue imo. Because they promised us 2.0 in 2016 & then dropped price of touch without warning or statement of any kind. That will be some bs to wait until live drops to release 2.0 esp. Considering its just a standalone version of touch, so its not like itll matter if 2.0 is already out imo.If they do make us wait until live drops thatll be the BIGGEST slap in the face to touch owners for many reasons.

Fanu wrote:Yeah they really need to get the new software out in a good condition first.
Wouldn't look good if they released new units before 2.0...that'd look like preferring making money over being nice to the previous customers.

But that's exactly why they will release at same time because it's about money

If they wanted to be nice to previous customers they wouldn't charge for the update

2.0 is more about the new line up than the ren/studio. It's part of the appeal about the new units and , from a business standpoint, wouldn't make sense to separate the 2

It's also why I question the live and x coming out at 2 separate times unless the x is far from being done (1 year +)

This looks more than complete to me. You can't tell me they've submitted a halve baked cake to the FCC.
I don't know how long it takes to mass produce the units but this 'X' looks like a finished product.

85% percent or maybe even 90% of the software should be similar to the 'Live' so no excuse there.

Akai needs to drop in like a bom at the NAMM to reclaime their throne..

Agree
If they don't even show the X that means it's 2018 release. My guess is we'll see them both at namm with releases a month or so apart

Yeah, I can't help thinking, even if X is still in progress, would not make sense to not at least show it. Showing it and being honest about it still being in progress – and also saying it'll come out later – would create a lot of good hype. If they tried to be all "We can't say anything about it" and beat around the bush, that'd be kind of silly.

I don't think that touch owners have to pay for V2.0 yet. Maybe for 2.
But please don't think Akai will like you to sell hardware. If MPC gets really accepted as a full DAW. Akai really like to be also a software company. The profit on software is much better than hardware. And btw Akai's hardware is software drivin. So the develment cost are already in the product. So if they can sell you only software, they will be very happy.

Why do you think Imbrand is buying software companies. First Numark was buying hardware companies like Alesis, Ion, Akai, etc... the last years they are buying into software companies. And I'm really liking that. It give them the recourses to put VST instuments and eff processors in the MPC world. They use these resources for making the new goodies.
