The sequencer basically needs to be completely redone because of the way the tracks dont line up from sequence to sequence.

This was also over a year ago he said this, and nobody is even sure Dan is still the PM for the MPC or even with Akai anymore. He dropped off the face of the earth from Gearslutz last year even before Akai killed that horrible support website they had up.

And Dan's word was always good. Let's hope the arranger is still on the to-do list after all this time.

I'm jus always nervous that Akai's unwillingness to alienate its legacy users will get in the way of modernizing the MPC.

That's Dan Gill. He's still listed under "Product Concept" under the MPC Software as of 2.9.1. Not sure if they'd remove his name if he no longer worked for them or got removed from his position, though.

I didn't know they had any of that listed. I wonder if he got in trouble for all the info he gave on Gearslutz. Dude made some hefty promises, and I wonder if Akai went 'Whoa there buddy, slow your role we aint doing ANY of that'. We did get the USB midi stuff, eventually..

Who knows maybe he got tired of all the Timber Wolf jokes directed at him haha.

Yeah I suspect that “upper management” (read: Jack O'Donnell) panicked when he realized Dan was committing them to so much work. Literally no other reason for Akai to bail on that Gearslutz thread when it was their only window to costumer feedback IMHO.

If companies like Reason Studios (Propellerhead) did that, it would be the death of them (PUF destruction not withstanding)..

Hope we do get this functionality. May not be the "mpc workflow" style but unless they're actively taking resources away from fixing bugs to implement this then I don't see how it hurts to have an option for how you want to arrange your creations :)

Coming from a DAW this would be very welcome and familiar to me.

Reason deleted their whole forum , that thing was a treasure trove of info.

As I said, PUF (Propellerhead User Forum) destruction notwithstanding. It certainly had a lot of info, but much of it was buried in an unmoderated mess of vitriol, and virtually all of it would be out of date as of today. I think Reasontalk is a much better forum than the PUF ever was.
