I mean just put freaking Hybrid in standalone already, no need to look somewhere else, InMusic owns the code...

Neodymium wrote:Yeah, sorry, I messed the quoting up, and now I can't edit. I meant to quote you, and I'm agreeing wit you I think. Even when crappy Triton sounds were used, it was all the other skills that made them into good tunes. They aren't the best rompler sounds, in an age Kontact where a good performance can make it sound like a recording to but the best ears. These sounds weren;t that great. But it was what they did with them.

I don't get the idea of putting a rompler in, when mulitisamples set up are just the same thing. I'd much rather see calling for the sampler to be improved.

I'm not even sure what sounds people would want from a rompler, traditional instruments, or genre specific. Kind of why I like soft synths so much, they can pack them for of user friendly banks, with I hate wading through, editing and trying to bend to my needs, but make many other happy. But I still get a new voice and an init patch that I can work with, so I'm happy. On top of that, I'm not using up chunks of memory.

I'd like to see the sampler improved, and wavetables added to the sampler, so 3rd parties can create banks and content for these.

OK cool, This site's quote system is ... interesting  But RE to the rest we're on the same wave. Presets are best for their waveforms that can used in a powerful synth engine that will be shaped into what you want. When you break it down to the samples it's all sonic texture's. Better sample editing tools is the way. Rompler's are basically you letting the company do the source sound finding part for you.

Rompler's give you instant sonic starting points which is cool for making sketches when you need some patches to be place holders for better idea for later. I got love for my XV-5080 maxed out with 8 ROM cards, but the MPC is a sampler & compared to the MC-707 (which is the new version of the XV, but can sample) it's a every advanced one!

I don't see Akai investing too much in any rompler when you could just buy a sample pack in put in the stuff you want in drum programs & keygroup & your right there in Rompler-Land.

Yet all I see is Akai investing in new ways to monetise the MPC system without doing jackshit about improving sample and patch loading. It’s the same as it was 20 years ago, you cannot really browse anything without the whole overhead of clearing memory afterwards, whereas on all other platforms, you just have in your project what you see. At the very least there should be an option to only save pgms and keygroups that are assigned to tracks.
Currently I am sticking to four bass patches because I don’t want to deal with the nuisance.

So you never heard of MPC-Stems? That's kinda doing something for the sampler.

Re patch loading. It's best to not keep any samples not assigned to a program (create a program or more for any individual samples you want to keep that wasn't part of any program in particular so they don't get deleted when purging samples. Then when you're just testing out new drum programs & keygroups you can easily delete the program(s) & purge the sample without deleting anything else. It could it be better, it could be a lot worse.

I don't know hybrid but looking but it seems a wavetable based synth

So given the option between adding wavetables to the Sample Engine already in the MPC, and then improving the modulation options, vs bringing in Hybrid, what would Hybrid bring to the table?

Nope, hybrid got regular osc/wave table/mulitosc / 23 different filters/lots of modulation options packed in a dual layer engine

Nope, what? That wasn't a yes/no question.

So being I said adding wavetables and more modulation to the existing engine, I don't know why you listed them. Unless you misread my question.

If they added wavetable to the existing sampler, you would have muilti-wavetable oscilators, and sample layers, and if they added more modulation, and being the the sampler has 28 filter types. Then its the dual engine only thing you listed.

So what would it bring over enhancing the existing sampler, from your experience with the Hybrid synth?

Thanks I think I know what to do, I just don’t think the system is up to date anymore and I think Akai should implement a library system at least for keygroups where not keeping any of the samples and the program is typical when you’re not using the patch on a track.

Also, I was referring to sample loading in particular. Stems is an add on for the sample edit function lol.

Why should it be one or the other? it could be both. Bring in Hybrid and enhance the sampler engine.

Yeah the filing system needs to be modernized. We shouldn't have to use a PC to move files around easily. Copy & paste would be helpful.

They should have a "Delete & Purge" option for when deleting Programs so only all its samples gets deleted. This way even if there's samples in the pool that's not in a program they won't get deleted when you purge the samples from a specific program.

Being able to filter loaded samples by date or time it was loaded & just deleted those would be nice. See all the samples you loaded in the last 10mins & delete.

But all this off topic & should be in the Sampler improvement thread I made to keep all those ideas in 1 place:

I n not sure if the mpc can offer a fully sampler on every track. I mean something more capable then the implemented now. They could open Hype as a sampler I m sure that this is a recycled structure or xpand behind it.

That's a grain synth that creates textures and clouds of sound starting from a sample you feed into it.

So, I am not saying they should make exactly this synth on MPC, but take the idea of it: a synth (could even be an improved advanced keygroup style) where the sample you choose goes through many different processings, gets chopped to grains, spread in all octave and so on.

It's quite possible to do it, we have the resources for that on MPC.
I obtained some interesting results making a keygroup with just a long sample as source, spread in all octaves.
I used a field recording and it leads to very interesting textures, the sample get stretched according to the note you play, all notes overlap for minutes.
But then, you would want to start mangling all those stretched samples to create some movement but, no, it ends like this.
Maybe Akai could start from this to create some sort of sample grain synth or advanced keygroup.
