I mean, Elektron’s Toverk is seriously taking aim and has MPC in its sites. It has an Auto Sampler now. I’ll absolutely keep my MPC, but Elektron might be finding a place into my studio again.

Tonverk looks interesting, not exactly what I was expecting TBH. I think it depends which 'head' I have on. From a business perspective I love the idea of developing multisample instruments for niche platforms but I'm not convinced there's going to be a big enough market of Tonverk users looking for that kind of thing (I would imagine they would be more interested in creating their own or converting the plethora of existing libraries from other platforms). From a personal perspective it could be a nice 'in the box' solution but I don't really think I need another one of those.

That said, if it moves to 'in stock' on Andertons today, I might be tempted.

Been on mpc for 17 years

It’s a convoluted minimalist mess, and when I see MPC noobs complaining about how hard it is to learn the MPC way (3.X or otherwise), Elektron steps in and says “hahahah - you think MPC is hard? Hold my beer”. But they’re still magnificent.

100% spot on

Back when a lot of us got our modern mpcs, they were incredible but now their work is going to shit. I personally got an MPC for the MPC workflow so to take that away from me really made me reevaluate whether i want to continue investing in akai. It also made me question if akai really understands their demographic of users who've only came this far with the modern akai because it kept the legacy flow.

The whole "arranger" thing is fkn retarded all it needed to be was a visual representation of our structured song. you know like when you format the tune before rendering it in the song window... instead of doing any real work they want to merge force and mpc into one thing and it is subtracting hard from the mpc.

the flashy colors and silly addons arent enough to compensate for whats been destroyed.

Cmon back to 2.x and become a legacy snob today! Make music fast and better.
This is exactly why I've never updated to 3.x.

MPC 3 is retarded thus making any new MPC of no interest to me. Recently picked up a used ONE cheap and immediately put OS2 back on there. I haven’t been on this board in a while and I’m sure somebody will remember me griping about time signatures, song mode and a bunch other things they never fixed. But OS3 abandoning programs just kills the platform for me.
I will always keep my 2kxl and 2500. WORKFLOW!

yah, i sincerely don't get how a dedicated mpc user doesnt regret the abandoning of programs. sending midi to different tracks is no substitute for the good old seq-track-program architecture, its key element was VERSATILITY , allowing each user to develop different workflows, i personally use the track\program relationship in different ways depending on the project i'm working on, if it is a production or a live set etc... simplifying things is one thing (and is always a good idea unless you sacrifice function over form) but this is simply wanting to mimick a daw because nowadays people is so used to create music on computers. aside from the motion slice thing which is actually very cool, i fail to see innovation in 3.x , just a watering down of a great concept that lasted generations of mpc's, always adapting to the new platform and new features. now that chain is broken.
not to mention the things that were left aside (time signature, step recording, effective way of creating sustain loops etc...)

Its a New Crowd of Potential MPC Customers ($$$$). Us Old Heads are not the Majority of MPC Buyers. From a Business Standpoint...you have to Cater to where potential Profits are coming from. The smaller more Affordable MPCs. They Are more focused on Customers who are use to DAWs, who want to detach from the their computers.
Akai wants us to abandon our External Keyboards, in hopes that you purchase more powerful Expansions. That's All.

If I ran Akai...I would do the same thing. Get that Money first THEN Cater to the Relic Users

Just my 2 cents

This post resonates with me, I've had live2 with os3.5 and it felt like raspberry computer with pads and touchscreen but not as INSTRUMENT as it should be at the first place.

2500 is my way to go, DGAF about modern gimmicky constant internet connection to the beat machine.

And some of You folks are right, all Akai cares about it $$$$, You can cry on the internet, write as much posts on this forums as You can. From the moment when mr. Linn was kicked out from MPC team it was clear what it is all about.

It can be LIve 3, Live mini, Live 4, MPC Two or even MPC one billion - this are and will be and mpc for splice-loops kiddies without any music knowledge , fast machine for fast beatmaking for creating these skippable youtube type-beats (100$ for lease ofc) :D

I been reading alot of the post here.. for anyone thinking a company with employees and overhead cost. Don't care about the bottom line then your crazy.. akai which I still call them have been busy releasing software and plugins and been consistent with updates.. I believe and expressed in other forums it should have never been a public beta.. because most who complain dont know how to use the MPC since 2.03 release.. they been complaining since then.. ..back in the 90's we complained about not having firmware updates which only a few were updated.. I like the direction and look forward to more

They also built many different models & the Force in the current gen all running the same OS. The most they used to do is 2 which weren't that different. Now we got options & all with the same bugs. Progress!

it seems, based on posts here and on gearslutz, that a mpc3 is imminent -- maybe next week or the following week we will hear from inmusic.

so its coming - some folks will buy it, some won't. others are just curious.

i dont need it as i already have two Xse's, but i have G.A.S. and will get this.

i had the retro live 2 which i loved because i dont have to fire up my studio to get into it - i just press the on button and im creating. sometimes thats what you need when the creativity strikes. if the mpc 3 thats coming out is based on the live platform, i will like this even more because of its immediacy.

its a fun time! im excited -- even more so than my orange 2tb ifruit pro max im getting on the 19th...
